Is this going to be available on Wii? Probably got too much pressure from Nintendo to not tarnish it's all white selection of controllers and such. Would be bad ass if you could grip-tape that mother.

i think this roundup was mediocre, at best. it beared no resemblance to a circle and or anything round. instead it was a list. and to add, the list went down and not up.

granted, the content of said list was excellent -- i was greatly disappointed by the lack of round.

In reply to Nintendo Wii MotionPlus Hands On: One Year, Three Games Later
Everything that you're saying about how Wii MotionPlus doesn't augment the game that much or depends on the developer applies to Sony and Natal too. You could theoretically win all sorts of precise Sony motion games with waggle, or win a game in Natal by flailing your arms. It all depends on software, and at this point there is next to no software for any of these new technologies.

If Natal or Sony had some killer franchise game to go with their new hardware (like Nintendo is apt to do with Zelda) then that could conceivably turn the tide their way.

Sounds well and good, but when you mention that, "maybe even the new Zelda will require MotionPlus", it pisses me off that an accessory will be required to play a game (for a franchise that I happen to love).

If it were something that translated well to previous games then I would be slightly more enthusiastic about it, but as it stands, I probably won't be playing the new Zelda for a couple of years (when I can find it used, and MotionPluses are lying on the street for anyone to pick up).

In reply to Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata Says He Wouldn't Use a Mac or iPhone if Apple Was a Competitor
The features and articles of Gizmodo and Pogue's Posts may overlap. But if we look at our differences, the areas of overlap are small. If, in the future, this overlap becomes bigger to the extent we should call it direct competition, I have to be more careful. I might not be able to post comments for moderation on Pogue's blog anymore. Today, I don't worry about it.

@Matingmonkey: Personally I wouldn't care if she had an iPod. Hell, to me it'd be an honest statement of the iPod vs (Current) Zune hardware and user interface.

Apple made a nice, integrated, easy-to-use product. Microsoft just kind of keeps falling on their face. The Zune HD looks like it could be a huge improvement, but I'm waiting to see what the whole package looks like when it comes to syncing software and making your music purchases seamless. (IE: How easy is it to get it from say, Amazon.com to my Zune HD)

And it's nice to see someone outscore Apple on the hardware front, it means Apple will need to innovate again. I think they've stagnated in the market since the iPhone / iTouch were released. The 3G model is evolutionary, not revolutionary. As is the app store integration.

I don't believe Apple or Microsoft to be infallible. And the competition between them in this market will be to the end user's benefit.

Wait, let's get this straight. If Apple entered the game market he wouldn't use an iPhone or Mac for his presentation?

What's he going to do? Run Vista or Win7? Oh wait, that's a Microsoft product. He couldn't use a phone running WinMo 6.5 or a PC using Microsoft Products could he? They'd be a competitor!

Oooh, he could run Ubuntu for his presentations!

Sorry, but that's a pretty moronic statement to make. "I wouldn't use an Apple product because they make a game console." Who else are you going to use that isn't a competitor that your IT dept will support you using?

@cloudnine: Well, let's look at this.

Microsoft sells Office for Mac, and supports Macs connecting to its hardware. Apple makes iTunes and Quicktime for Windows. Sony uses Windows on its machines that it sells. Everyone I knew at Motorola had an iPhone.

When I worked for a bank I wasn't fired for banking with a competitor.

I'd say the companies are somewhat interdependent upon each other at this time. They just compete in other areas.

I'm just saying he's picking an odd line to draw considering how incestuous the entire industry really is.

Must... resist... laughing... * years? 3 years, even? Wow. That's quite a bold statement considering most people don't play their Wii more than a couple months before moving on to something with more depth. Oh, and good luck trying to sell a non-HD console to Americans that are finally going digital in a matter of days.

@nukee: Go try to buy a non-HDTV at Wal-Mart. Except for the clearance TVs that some stores may have, they should all be HDTVs now. While yes, having a digital tuner is different than being HD, mandatory digital tuners and the switch to digital broadcast is what has really pushed the demand for HDTVs hard because it has also encouraged more and more things to be broadcast in HD, especially since a lot of people used the transition as a justification to get a better TV rather than just getting a tuner.
