Even the least astute observer would notice how there is not a 1-1 correlation between the guy in the video typing on his Nokia and the text appearing on his screen. Hilarious. I just don't see how phones like this have any chance of future survival when I can type faster on my iPhone than he can on his Nokia E72. And this is just a first gen iPhone. Can't imagine how many more nails the iPhone 3G S will hammer into these other phones coffins.
@TheSonOfKrypton: Obviously it isn't an actual screen shot but a video. It's rare to have actual screens during a promo. Even with print ad's they say "screen images simulated". This guy jusat did a shitty job at it.
Where is Jrsy Devil's Food Cake now? Finally someone gives some credit to wonderful Symbian Phone, the E71, which is a great phone and I know first hand because I have one.
It just sits there waiting to be use because I use a Q since I work for MOTO. Its AWFUL.But people almost come to tears when they see how elegant and useful as the E71.
@LindsayJoy's MBP is into S+M: IF only I hadn't just replaced my phone making me ineligible for an upgrade, I'd be all over the E71x. It'll probably cost triple to just buy it.
You rang? Sorry I missed this earlier and thanks for asking about me. I only hope when AT&T gets their hands on this phone that they don't ruin it was crippling firmware.
[thread-jack]On a slightly related, side-note I just got the 5800 Xpress Music this weekend. The US version is way better than the European one. I found the Euro version to be slow transitioning between menus and somewhat lagging overall. It was also annoying that despite being familiar with the S60 UI I had some trouble navigating through the menu to find things that weren't where I expected them to be. Additionally it was frustrating that some items required two taps to access while other needed three (with seemingly no rhyme or reason to this).
Compared to the US version it's like night and day. The UI is much more responsive and for the most part easy to use even with my big hands. Everything is two taps instead of a mix. The call quality is excellent. So far the only area I've had some difficulty with is the web browsers (default and Opera Mini). Navigating around them and clicking some of the links is cumbersome (curse these huge meat paws!). I can see my productivity (if you can call it that, it's more like goofing off) on-line is much slower than on my N95. I'm too used to dedicated buttons. We'll see if that improves. If not then at least I have 14 days to return it.
@TrevorTheGreat: Probably not for a few more years. Apple has never been an early adopter of hardware. So far, they have always tried to innovate through user interface.
@M-Dizzle: I always thought an "x" in a name meant that item was approved as "Extreme" by the International Council on Extremeness. I have a lot of ExLax, coincidentally. Two x's
Ah crap. I was just forced by a broken phone to get new equipment. I wonder what kind of struggle it would be to switch it up without paying full retail.
I checked out the E71 and found the keys just a bit too small for my ham hands and sausage fingers. This phone will be great for all you tiny-handed folk..
Hey guys, sorry, the key to the charts could use a little explanation. Post updated, and here it is:
CHART KEY: Number value is time for complete page load in seconds; page rendering is rated from "Fail" to "Excellent" for each; and the color (red, yellow, green) indicates overall performance taking into account both speed and rendering accuracy: Green = good overall, Red = fail overall.

They do get the coolest hardware.
I can't for the life of me leave Verizon though because I'm too well hooked up right now.
Perhaps some day...

Well it is an extreme cleanser..

After they cripple it then it won't be an E71 anymore..

And as an added bonus Symbian can now be included on any future US smartphone comparison charts...

You had a chance to be honest, and at least tie the Android and the iPhone. Instead, it's the same ol', um, 'Apple' polishing.
Enjoy the kickback check, guys.

Instinct takes 2+ min to load WSJ = Excellent, but Dare fails at 38 seconds (both red?)
Bold gets an excellent at 2.5 mins on Wiki (red), instinct does 52 sec (green)?
