Asus has finally committed to an October U.S and European arrival for its entertainment-PC-in-keyboard. The sleek device has a 5-inch touchscreen and Ultra Wideband HDMI (with receiver) to connect to your TV. I want it on my coffee-table.

The Eee Keyboard's netbook-like specs include a 1.6GHz Atom processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 16- or 32GB solid-state hard disk, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI, and battery (no word on its capacity).

The official confirmation backs up DigiTimes' "industry sources" who not only claimed that October looked likely, but estimated the price should be around $400-$500. Asus didn't elaborate on cost, but fingers-crossed that it can keep things that low. And with Windows 7 debuting on October 22, hopefully the Eee Keyboard will ditch XP altogether (though it may have a Mobilin Linux option). [PC World]

<![CDATA[Asus Eee Keyboard Expected "As Early As October"]]> In the latest twist of the Eee Keyboard's delay, DigiTimes reports the entertainment-PC-in-a-keyboard should be ready "as early as October". It also says the 20-inch Eee Top AIO, and two new ultra-thin U/UX series notebooks will arrive in September.

Though it cites unnamed "industry sources" (which could mean anything), DigiTimes gets specific for the Eee keyboard's pricing: around US$400-500. The keyboard has a built-in 5-inch display, 1.6Ghz Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, 16/32GB SSD, Wi-Fi and a wireless HDMI dongle.

Meanwhile, the Nvidia Ion-based 20-inch Eee Top ET2002 AIO, and Eee Box nettop are expected to cost about $670 and $300 in September.

The ET2002 has an Atom 330 CPU, 1600 by 900 resolution, 2GB RAM, 250GB hard disk, and 802.11n Wi-Fi.

Bonus news: DigiTimes also says HP is expected to launch an Ion-based netbook in September, along with some new ultra-thin netbooks. We're gonna be busy! [DigiTimes]

<![CDATA[Homemade Asus Eee Keyboard Has No Screen, Plenty of Heart]]> The Eee keyboard, as cool as it is, sure is taking its time, you know, coming out. One especially anxious Russian modder got bored of waiting around, so he just broke down an Eee PC 900 and made his own.

It's a meticulous, charming mod, complete with woodwork, which is why we can forgive some of the larger omissions, like its lack of a touch display—the most outwardly distinctive feature of the original—and its lone, primitive VGA video output. What is does have is a 900MHz Intel Mobile Celeron processor, a 20GB SSD, 1GB of RAM and Wi-Fi.

It doesn't look like he kept the battery, which would have been a nice touch, but hey! PC in a keyboard! [Eee-pc.ru via Liliputing]

<![CDATA[ASUS Eee Keyboard Blithely Glides Past June Release, Now Scheduled For August]]> ASUS's touchscreen PC-in-a-keyboard was expected to land in June, according to rumors direct statements from company executives. That didn't happen! Prices and specs are presumably unchanged, but the new release date is somewhere in August. [Techdigest via Slashgear]

<![CDATA[Asus Eee Keyboard Shown Running Intel's Moblin Netbook OS]]> The image associated with this post is best viewed using a browser. The Eee Keyboard PC was pretty amazing before, but now that we're seeing it running Intel's Moblin OS, we want one even more.

We've only seen Windows XP versions of the computer-inside-a-keyboard before, but sticking Intel's Linux-based Moblin on there actually makes sense. I've always pictured the Eee keyboard as something you'd have hooked up to your TV rather that a traditional monitor, and Moblin looks like it'd be great for casual internet use from the couch.

<![CDATA[Asus Eee Keyboard With PC and Touchscreen Caught Looking Great On Video]]> The image associated with this post is best viewed using a browser.Engadget Chinese got some footage of the Eee Keyboard in action, and judging from the video, the touchscreen-endowed keyboard looks like it has some promise. The secret behind its mojo? It runs a standalone version of Windows XP.

The keyboard houses an entire Atom chipset inside its body which is separate from the touchpanel. But the touchpanel also uses the XP power to run Skype and MSN and serve as a media remote, among other things. Engadget Chinese said it worked pretty well, and if the video is any indication, the 5-inch, 800x480 screen uses a capacitive panel. The keyboard is rumored to launch sometime in June, in either wired or wireless-UWB models, but little is known beyond that. [Engadget]

<![CDATA[Asus Eee Keyboard PC Should Arrive in May or June for $400-$600]]> Asus's amazing-looking Eee Keyboard, which is a home theater PC stuffed inside a keyboard, complete with wireless HDMI and a secondary touchscreen, is dropping in May or June. And for only $400-$600!

Asus CEO Jerry Shen says they're working on two models, one wired and one wireless. The wired version will run about $400 while the wireless should run somewhere south of $600.

There's still no hard info on specs, such as processor or hard drive, but hell, a wireless keyboard/computer combo with a built-in touchscreen? I almost don't care what the specs are, I just want one.

The keyboard is packing a 5-inch built-in display, a 1.6 GHz Atom processor, 1 GB of RAM, 16/32 GB SSD, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. As far as ports, it's got wireless HDMI, 2 USB 2.0, VGA, HDMI, and audio in/out. [Reg Hardware]

<![CDATA[Eee Keyboard: An Entire Touchscreen Home Theater PC]]> We spotted some Asus keyboards last week, but none were nearly as potentially awesome as the official Eee Keyboard. Featuring wireless HDMI, it's a "fully functional PC" with full QWERTY and a mini secondary touchscreen.

Asus was vague as to if/when we'll actually see the Eee Keyboard come to market (though we're pretty sure it's a semi-real product), but it's a fantastic concept for a home theater PC if we've ever seen one. Through wireless HDMI you could potentially make any television into your monitor (complete with audio playback) without having some huge PC taking up space.

Processor? RAM? Yeah, we have no clue. But look at all those ports!
