People thinking doing stuff like this that seems completely pointless is the people that hold back technology. Just because it seems pointless now doesn't mean it'll be pointless down the line.
Android is free...xp is not. This could bring the cost down. Yes it runs xp and Linux just fine but are you so narrow minded to think that a choice of only 2 OS's is good enough. Not to mention that Google has a much better chance of bringing a new OS to the masses than Linux. Let's just see where this goes. If I were MS, I'd be starting to sweat a little.
@Cliff_Dangers: and Linux is not "one OS" -- there are dozens of different flavors of it, some very nicely suited to MIDs and netbooks. Sure this is mildly interesting, but if I'm going to install an OS on my netbook it's going to be something that I know is designed for it and going to be fully supported. Ubuntu's MID edition looks much more promising to me.
