Been playing with this for about an hour now. It's definitely a lot of fun. But the crummy speaker on the 2G iPhone means I probably won't be playing this anywhere except my room without headphones. #rockbandforiphone
....aaaaannnd other phones, that might actually play better because some of them have buttons. Oh yeah, I said it...but the real point is the OTHER PHONES too thing. It seems to have been ignored. #rockbandforiphone
You know why I love Rock Band so much? I used to wish I could play guitar, and I saw so many guys at school working their asses off to improve as musicians and become competent guitarists. I even saw geniuses like Eric Clapton and Joe Satriani and wished I could express myself through the guitar like they could. I was ready to put in the work, sweat, tears, and blood to do it, too.
But now I don't have to! Rock Band has enabled me to have all the glory without all that damned work and "musical" knowledge. Now I am a rock god, every bit as good as those chumps from school who worked for it. I always thought learning the guitar was going to be hard, but Rock Band has made it so easy.
@SEDAGIVE?!: Haven't you people given up on this played out arguement yet? I have never seen someone play Rock Band/Guitar Hero and delude themselves into thinking that they are an actual musician, any more than someone playing Call of Duty thinks they're a war hero. Give it a rest. #rockbandforiphone
@PollockRoc: As a musician there is 1 HUGE benefit to a game like rock band and that is finger dexterity. Its a great way to keep your fingers nimble without abusing them on strings 100% of the time. #rockbandforiphone
@Eulatos: I don't know about this one.. but I will say this - Knowing how to play guitar fur rullz gives me an edge over my friends when we're playing RockBand, because of the finger dexterity from playing for real. A sense of rhythm helps too...
Same with drums. While I do play (real) drums, I'm no good - I'll admit that. I will say, however, that playing enough RockBand has helped me separate the individual control of my hands and feet a lot better for when I'm playing real drums. But other than that and an improved sense of rhythm ... it still doesn't translate into much of anything on a real drum set.
What I will say though, is that before shows, my band and I always play rockband just to relax and practice not being tense on stage. Sounds cheesy - and it is - but it has helped our stage presence. haha it's true! Going nuts to rockband is good practice for the real deal.
PS to all the rockband haters... get a life. You might as well go make fun of people playing Halo for not being able to use a real sniper rifle... but it's all fun and games. Rockband has a much wider appeal than most games, and makes for a fun party game - even some girls who never play video games have really gotten into it when we get a bunch of people playing on our projector. They love singing along and even picking up the guitars to play. It's like Wii bowling - anyone can play it. that's the appeal. Besides, you all probably suck at guitar anyway if you're picking on video gamers about it. The time YOU spend criticizing video game 'guitarists' could be spent learning to play guitar better. or making friends. or both.#rockbandforiphone
Think of all of the people employed to make all of these incompatible products. In an economy like we have today, we really should be embracing the chaos that is modern copy protection.
You forgot to mention how to break the DRM, if this explaination included "EVERYTHING" you wanted to know. I want to know how to break Fairplay DRM specifically.
"but then again, it's not as easy to rip a stream for Joe Blow as it is to share a file over Limewire"
Remember, though - all it takes is one clued in guy to rip the stream and Joe Blow can download it over Limewire forever. This is why DRM really doesn't work.
@jackjumper: I think that's why Hollywood is glad that, for now, streaming video looks like ass. Can you imagine a super-clean non-hiccupy HD Hulu stream? I don't think NBC or Fox can either!
