@GitEmSteveDave_SomeAssemblyReq...: Dude, you do not have my permission to repost my super-personal video blog here. That like, really hurts me, because I'm like, really sensitive.
Man. I bet her dad really suspects her mom drank and huffed paint during that pregnancy.
I'm not entirely sure why you wouldn't want to have one of these, Frucci. The only emoticon that you can punch, or kick, or smash, or melt? Sounds pretty tempting to me.
I didn't use them, but... WTF? What's next, no international keyboards? No non-roman characters displayed? Why cripple it? I think the people who know enough to enable emoji in the first place would understand that not every phone user in the USA could receive them properly.
Let's put all this "I paid for it, I should do whatever i want with it no matter what the consequences" crap to bed right now with a simple analogy shall we?
You bought the house (iPhone). And you pay property and school tax (Service plan). Now let's say you want to put a hot pink colored extension onto the front of your house, and put a 40ft tall iron gate in the front yard and dig a moat around your house and while renovating your house you decide that you don't like this one support beam so you're going to move it, leaving part of your floor unsupported.
Good luck getting the necessary permits for your "renovations" (3rd party apps).
Oh sure, you can go and do it anyway behind the backs of the community (jailbreak)... and then get fined if caught (void your iPhone warranty)
People you simply cannot give everyone everything they want, just because your name is on the lease.
Stop whining, stop bitching, don't buy an iPhone if you don't want to play by their rules because nobody wants a neighbor with a neon pink balcony and a moat around their crumbling house encased in 40ft of iron.
@bucklefilledbird: And what about when the city gives you permits to paint the house pink, or whatever... then they decide that only buildings that the city owns can be pink, and force you to change your house color, at your cost.
Rules are fine, as long as they're all spelled out in the beginning. Changing your secret rules at whim and without notice is douchebaggery.
@Cameron Nicholas Graham: I took it as well-placed sarcasm. For that matter, there is both an emoji for said sarcasm, as well as for being shot in the face.

Sure you're still beholden to some douche, but my douche isn't telling me what's "acceptable" to run on MY hardware.

These people need to be shot!
In the face!

Neither will make it to the app store, however.

Thank you, Apple, for letting us all know what we can and cannot do with a phone that we paid for.
