People say they want color, but do they really? What percentage of reading from books, newspapers and light web browsing would be improved by a color screen? Almost none. Improve the bw screen first please.

Are you serious? Other than novels and maybe biographies, pick up just about any book. Color is now the norm. (And don't even get me started about magazines.) From DIY household guides to computer/software training (even Pogue's Missing Manual series, long a black-and-white holdout, is largely converting to full-color) to cooking and crafts and parenting and nature and...etc., EVERYTHING is full-color. And not just to be pretty, color helps communicate.
What I said above notwithstanding, YES, I agree with you on this point, absolutely. For example, making the e-paper background WHITE, not grey, would be a vast improvement.
@Rain-man: As further proof that rainbow jello is all things to all people, commenters on that blog range from moms making rainbow jello for their kids, to men making rainbow jello for "gay movie night."
