I am surprised that Apple isn't using every dang blasted futuristic technology they have at their disposal to hunt this person down. And get back their prototype.

From a corporate standpoint, I can see two points of views - the first being clearly more Apple, than the second.

1) In my experience, Apple doesn't want faulty, or imperfect product out there in the marketplace, as it damages their reputation, and they want people to have working products. Also, they are EXTREMELY secretive when it comes to stuff like this. I wouldn't be surprised if they denied that they even create prototypes.

2) Ahhhh heck - let 'em keep it! The product is already in the market place. We can be nice, and let 'em have their fun! After all, we have family oriented values, and we are a happy, safe, and giving company!

It will be interesting to see if this machine stays in the consumer's possession......

It might be more valuable if it contained a feature that didn't make it to market. Like a transporter or time machine or something.

@frigg: It does contain a Time Machine, right? And with that internal Leopard build, it might actualy transport you through time

@kall: Actually, if I'm not mistaken, it appears to be running tiger, at least from the picture above.

Although I did not RTFA so I could be completely wrong.

Yes, Kit. It's the Inverted Jenny of the computer world. In fact, it was shipped to the winner in a manila envelope with an Inverted Jenny stamp (plus 63 more stamps for adequate postage).
