<![CDATA[Evergreen Genius Navigator 365: It's a Mouse! It's a Gamepad! It's a Gamemousepad!]]> Evergreen's new Genius Navigator 365 is described by the English translation of Impress as "a USB gamepad deformed laser mouse", and we couldn't agree more. The mouse is 1600dpi, the gamepad has eight buttons and a D-pad, and it sells for $33 (¥3,499). Be warned, of course, that you get what you pay for. [Impress]

<![CDATA[Evergreen Flash-to-USB Stick Will Take Cards]]>
This Evergreen USB adaptor is for people who like to play with slots - of the flash memory kind. It's a USB memory stick with a slot for memory cards, so it's more like an adaptor, really. They have all sorts of models, ones which accept anything from Compact Flash, Secure Digital, micro SD, MMC and Memory Stick.

The Compact Flash model goes up to 8 GB, measures 78 x 10 x 23mm. The SD/MMC model can do 2GB, measures 46 x 10 x 20mm. The Memory Stick PRO/duo model also goes up to 2GB and measures 55 x 10 x 18mm. All of them weigh 15 grams, apart from the micro SD, (also available in green) which comes in at a titchy 7 grams, and measures 46 x 10 x 20. Cost is around 499 yen, which is $4.15.

P.S. I so wanted to headline this "Cartman's USB Stick is a Dirty Slot, but Mummy said no.

<![CDATA[EverGreen !Tude Neon-ish Earphones]]> If you haven't been feeling conspicuous enough lately, strap on these EverGreen !Tude earphones for iPod or any other music player, and attract all kinds of unwanted attention as their neon-esque cables flash as if they were dancing to the music. Power 'em up with a couple of AAA batteries that might just last throughout the entire rave, if you can find one.

This might be an important accoutrement to the mating ritual, but we prefer black. Plus, that battery pack looks like it's bigger and weighs more than a nano, and certainly more than a shuffle. No pricing or availability was announced.

<![CDATA[Evergreen's Memory Card Cleaner Wastes Your Green]]> Apparently both memory cards and memory card readers get dirty over time, as dust or liquids accumulate on the contacts, corroding the metal and affecting transfer speeds. Or so Evergreen wants you to believe. The reason? Their memory card reader pack.

The set consists of a cloth and various sized "fake" memory cards with material on the end designed to clean the contacts inside your reader. Useful if you've been having problems with your card reader, not very useful otherwise. Depending on how much these go for, it may be cheaper just to go buy another card reader.

<![CDATA[Edifier E1100 2.1-Channel Speakers Look Really, Really Nice]]> Way back in August we first mentioned the Hermione speakers that were due to hit Korea. Now, the sleek speaker system is about to hit Japan, this time with a new name and some actual stats for you. Now known as the Edifier E1100, this 2.1-channel speaker system's two satellite speakers each have a 4.5W power output, while the subwoofer has a mighty 12W. Like we opined when we first laid our eyes on it, the Edifier would be an excellent addition to an all black computer system or the New Zealand ruby team's facilities.

For a change, having something that looks nice won't require to you to get a second mortgage, since it retails for around $42 right now in Japan. Over there, it's marketed by Evergreen.

<![CDATA[Evergreen Mini-Shaped Enclosure for SATA or IDE]]> Evergreen, makers of the nine-dollar MP3 player, anticipates the Mac mini/iTV-inspired home theater revolution with the Evergreen NAS Mini, a Mac mini-sized network-attached storage enclosure. You can get it with or without LAN connections in the back, and it supports IDE or SATA 3.5" hard disks.

Smart move, Evergreen, anticipating the next home theater PVR with the building blocks for a Mac mini-based TiVo replacement. Imagine one or two of these stacked underneath a mini. Drop in a $190 Western Digital Caviar 7200rpm 500GB disk, and you'll have plenty of cost-effective storage, maybe even enough for those huge HDTV media files.

<![CDATA[USB Egg from Evergreen Consolidates Three Functions in One]]> Here's yet another USB device to clutter up your desktop, but this one from Evergreen attempts to consolidate numerous functions into its whimsical egg-shaped design. It's a pair of speakers, a card reader and a USB 2.0 hub, giving you not-exactly-rocking tunes with 2 watts per channel, a card reader that can handle SD, CompactFlash and Media Stick, and then a USB hub with two ports.

Doesn't a product need to have more than two USB ports to be called a "hub?" Perhaps it should be called a "twofer." Anyway, the USB Egg is available in Japan, and there's no word whether we'll see it stateside. Looks like fun if you're obsessed with eggs or perhaps concerned about fertility.

<![CDATA[Three Way HDMI Selector From Evergreen]]>

Even with more and more manufacturers jumping on the HDMI bandwagon (with no pressure from DRM-happy Hollywood, to be sure), it's still a relatively rare connection. (My local cable company doesn't even offer HD cable boxes with HDMI outputs but instead chooses to give you component cables; DVI cables must be purchased on your own dime.) If you're a high roller with multiple HDMI sources but are saddled with a receiver that doesn't support the all-digital connection, Evergreen's EG-HDMI301 offers a painless way to incorporate up to three said connections into your home entertainment center. Once it's being fed three (or two or one) different HDMI inputs, the EG-HDMI301 easily switches between the different signals. Thankfully, it supports "true" HD resolutions of up to 1,920 x 1,200—more popularly known as 1080p.

The aluminum EG-HDMI301 can be found in Japan for about $257. Now all that's left is for you to not overpay for those wonderful HDMI cables.

<![CDATA[Shockproof Hard Disk Case]]> Designed for 2.5" hard drives—that's notebook hard drives—the shockproof casing protects drives up to 120cm (3.9 feet). That's just about the distance between your desk and the floor, or your hands and the floor. The sides are made of plastic and provide cushioning for falls, at least if it lands on the bumper. Inside is coated with foam to pad the hard drive itself. We just hope this foam isn't combustible, as hard drives can get pretty darn hot.

<![CDATA[Ever Green Pink MP3 Player (For Girls, Naturally)]]> Yes, if it's pink it must be for girls. Take this portable MP3 player from Japan's Ever Green corporation. Going by the moniker of DN-2000, this SD card-based player includes no built-in memory whatsoever, making it necessary to separately purchase said SD cards. You can insert cards up to 1GB in size and then try to guess what MP3 is playing since there's no display to speak of. It's pretty much a bare bones device, powered by dreadfully old tech AAA batteries that should last up to five hours.

It's certainly small enough, measuring only 2.2 x 2.4 x 0.5-inches and weighs just over one ounce. So if small, near-crippled pink MP3 players are your bag, baby, then Ever Green's little player might just be a solid addition to your purse. Oh, and it's only about $9, give or take some cents, but it's Japan-only for now.

<![CDATA[Plug and Play: Evergreen Music, Baby]]> The Evergreen DN-MPS100 Music Baby is a speaker enclosure that amounts to simplicity in a box. Plug in a USB flash drive loaded with MP3s, and sit back as sweet music wafts through the Music Baby s two speakers. Its built-in 7-watt amplifier might not have enough oomph to crank out a wall of sound, but then it's bargain-priced at $60. Now this is what they meant by the term plug-and-play —you plug, it plays.
