A word of advice to anyine who doesnt want to be offended: Stop reading Giz. No matter who you are, where you live, what you do, etc, etc, sooner or later something here WILL offend you. You have been warned. Now shut up.
some things are offensive, no matter how you cut it, and I think it's hypocritical of the Gizmodo staff to shoop pictures that offend others while tip-toeing around American tragedies.
Mind you, I'm not saying complete and total absence of possibly offensive material, just some tact. Being a grownup doesn't mean you can swear and curse and whatnot all the time, that stuff is teenager material. Grownups still use those things, but mature grownups only do so when necessary. Otherwise it diminishes the very notion of offense.
@JesusDeSaad: I was just making the point that the stories are not aimed to offend any one group of people; everyone is an equal target. NOTHING is scared at Giz, no matter how "taboo" the subject matter*. While some of it is over the line, I would not have it any other way. The reason I like Giz is the fact that pretty much anything and everything can and is talked about here.
*Except maybe Anti-Apple/Mac stuff, cause, you know, we cant go THERE.
Wow. How fucking WEAK SAUCE are we, the United States, when CHINA, of all people, beats us to the punch of releasing a mass produced plug in hybrid? Wow... just, wow. Mark this one on your calendar as a major milestone in the fall of the world's biggest empire. This is a national disgrace and I'm disgusted with my country for it. Shame on you Detroit and Washington, SHAME!! You are losing my generation's space race.
@gloveofpower: Maybe we're concerned about the added hit our power grid would take if everyone was to plug in their cars instead of buying portable fuel.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't China run on 220 voltage? I mean, if Giz needed an electrician to run a special connection to plug in a TV, what would be required to plug in a 240V car? Yes, I realize that what comes into your house is 240, but you would need to run special wiring and breakers to set up a plug if this requires 240.
@DeusExMach: According to the South Park Rules, it won't be funny until Septmeber 21, 2011 at 9:40am GMT, because that's when exactly 22.3 years will have passed since the end of the Tiananmen Square Massacre.
To comment on the article..I can't wait till hybrids are avail to the general public. Where I live the temperature can reach as low as -40 in the winter and having to plug my car in at night to keep the block heater warm is habit in the winter anyway. I would think these cars could handle that kind of below zero temps because they would use less oil to run and would already be plugged in. 2010 is within sight and the price tag is not to shabby either and.
May I ask who does Giz's photo chopping? Do you all do your own or only a few do them all? Because I thoroughly enjoy the one's that appear whipped together like the first time you make pancakes.. messy and oh so good.

I resent the idea that you think I would be offended.

Appalling. Absolutely appalling.
