To satisfy the interior decorator in all of us, Sony has continued its drive for "personalization" of TVs. That means interchangeable color faceplates available for two of the new lines, the 50" to 60" A3000 SXRD rear-projection sets ($3000 to $3500) and the 40" to 46" XBR4 ($3,000 to $4,800).

With the LCDs, you get the standard black bezel in the box, but you can swap it for any of eight other optional colors including Scarlet Red, Pacific Blue, Arctic White, Sienna Brown, Titanium Silver, Midnight Black and—new for 2007—Rose Metallic and Champagne Gold at $300 a pop.

For the rear-projection sets, you can replace the black lower speaker grille with one of four colors including Burgundy Red, Metallic Silver, Satin Black and Cacao, $50 each.

I know, I know, sooo earthy. Here you were holding out for "Shocking Pink" or "Electric Orange", right? Sorry to disappoint. Maybe you'll get your wish next year.

<![CDATA[Lagerfeld-Inspired Xbox Plates]]> Did somebody say bandwagon? With the release of the Xbox 360 and the option of customizable faceplates, it seems Karl Lagerfeld has jumped the couch with these fancy, yet compelling faceplates for the Xbox 360. Along with Lagerfeld's designs, other top designers in Paris have been commissioned to give their twist to this geeky artform including Chanel, Sonia Rykiels, Andree Putman, Irina Volkonski and DJ Pedro Winter. No word if Mugatu gets a shot. The units are on display at Colette through this Sunday and then will be available for purchase for $400 and up. [Thanks, Karson]

<![CDATA[iFace Borrows A Trick From The Cellphone Industry]]> Made by Winzz, the iFace takes after the hugely popular changeable faceplate movement which started with cellphones back in the day. (Admit it, you had your huge Nokia phone with the butterfly faceplate that you used to play snake on.) iFace costs $25 for the initial black case which isn't too bad for a decent case. But wait. You'll need to start buying faceplates for the iFace! Ok, well, how much, you ask? $20 a pop. Yes. A new faceplate will cost you almost another case. Sorry Winzz, cool idea, but give us $5 faceplates if you expect us to get sucked in.

<![CDATA[PSP Comes In Colors Everywhere]]>
I'm not a big fan of the hard shell PSP cases—too much work to remove and replace after every crowded subway ride. So I like these garish custom-colored PSP faceplates from E-linksoft. The faceplate package includes button covers and a lens to protect that screen from scratches. Comes in Ferrari Red, Chrysalis Blue, Liquid Silver, and Xipod White (can you believe they're naming colors after the iPod already? Jeez...). Sounds like some work is required to attach the thing. Get one on pre-sale now for $50.
