    Going by just that one photo, I can't conclusively identify which of the many known builds of the Anakin lightsaber hilt that is, but for damn sure it wasn't used in both ANH and TESB, and it's not even the only copy you'd see in whichever movie it's from.


    For ANH, they had both stunt props (several) and show props (probably a few of those as well). Then they made a completely new hilt for the Holiday Special (not even using the same model of flash handle as the base), but I have no idea if they needed a stunt copy or not (I don't even know if I ever watched the Holiday Special, but if I have it would only have been when it was originally broadcast). And for TESB, again, they made several stunt copies and probably at least a couple show copies. Finally, they replicated the design for Anakin to use in RotS (I believe his AotC hilt was supposed to be a different, but similar construct), again making multiple copies. Obviously Kurtz wouldn't have the latter, and this isn't a stunt copy or the Holiday Special design, but it'd take someone with a much more practiced eye than mine to pick out whether it's an ANH prop or TESB prop, and that's assuming the photo is of the actual piece and not something that got pulled from some random webpage.

    Wow, now that I see it up close, I never really realized how unfriendly the handle to Luke's lightsaber really is. You'd think with all the Star Wars tech, they'd prefer some kind of sci-fi leather grip or something. . .

    No, they pretty much stuck to windshield wiper blades from British WWII army vehicles on pretty much everything. Half of the lightsaber hilts we see in the OT, Stormtrooper blasters, Boba Fett's RotJ rifle (the TESB one has a smooth barrel)...

    You have no idea how hard it was to find the correct spelling for 'Magui', not to be confused with 'Maugua'. Not sure how I'd feel with one of those around

    @headc4se: Meh, I guess it's up for contention still, but the wiki link actually does have it 'Mogwai/Mogui' in Chinese culture' [en.wikipedia.org] It's a Romanised phonetic spelling of a Chinese word, so I'm sure it's debatable. I can't spell for shit though, and prolly typoed it above anyway.
