<![CDATA[Question of the Day: Do You Consider Yourself a Fanboy?]]> The word fanboy gets thrown around a lot these days—so much so that Webster's decided to officially incorporate the term into the English language. Generally speaking, when referring to someone as a fanboy it is intended to be derogatory—but the bottom line is that Fanboyism is the root of all great nerdy debates. So, it is time to take a hard, honest look at yourself. Are you a fanboy? If so, what kind of fanboy are you? And if this poll turns out skewed heavily towards no, there are a whole lot of liars out there.

<![CDATA[Fanboy Is Now a Real English Word, Says Merriam-Webster]]> Yes, it's official: you now can be a fanboy by the power of Grayskull and the Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary, which says the word is now part of the English language. They arrive a little late, because the Oxford American Dictionary in Apple's Mac OS X Leopard running on my Apple iMac 24" shows it, and so does the dictionary on my Apple PowerBook 17"—running Apple's Mac OS X Tiger—and also the automatic orthography corrector in my Apple iPhone. The Merriam-Webster added other geek terms which are not in the Oxford, though:

Netroots: the grassroots political activists who communicate via the internet especially by blogs

Webinar; a live online educational presentation during which participating viewers can submit questions and comments.

Pretexting: the practice of presenting oneself as someone else in order to obtain private information

Another word they added was malware—software designed to interfere with a computer's normal functioning—but that's in the Oxford too. [CNET]

<![CDATA[Comment Of The Day]]> Since yesterday's comment of the day was so popular, we struggled to find one today that would be just as compelling... At first it seemed that a comment in the Apple Year-End Report Card was going to take it, but then about 40 other commenters said the same thing, by also calling the Giz "fanboys"; so that quickly became unoriginal. Then the comment of the day was found, and we know at least one commenter will agree, EMOSHUNZ that means you. OMG!!! PONIES!!! 's comment on Bill Gates' recent Mexican investment, is a well thought-out joke that we couldn't help but award with the comment of the day. And to all those fanboy callin', Apple haters, you'll probably like this one too...

BY OMG!!! PONIES!!! AT 11:10 AM Of course, if Apple sold Mexican beer, it would be Miller Chill. Apple would claim to have revolutionized beer by combining fruit and beer, criticized anyone else for fruiting beer, and also charged extra for the privilege of pre-fruited beer. Yes, the beer would have a slightly higher alcohol content, but you'd still be able to get a better buzz for less money by buying Corona, the Windows of Mexican beer (tastes okay, not great, but okay). Meanwhile, stoners would scoff at you as you came out of the bodega for not doing the Linux-alternative by huffing paint with them in parking lot.

<![CDATA[The House that Apple Built...]]> A lot of folks assume we are huge Apple fanboys here at Gizmodo, but we have nothing on Jeremy Mehrle of St. Louis. He has a grand total of 74 Macs in his house, all set up to run in some fashion or another. The entire home is even designed in the white contemporary style that Apple is known for. Bravo, Mehrle, bravo. Hit the Flickr link below to see all of the pictures of his shockingly beautiful, yet geeky, home.
