LOL Didn't the EU just legalize cellphone voice calls on airlines?

What if I want to get away from cel-phone users so I can sit and quietly enjoy the music on my iPod?

Also it seems worth mentioning, the same operator has a special wi fi equipped train too...kinda counter productive isnt it?

Right, so you can't get anything done on the train - I'm guessing this counts WiFi out as well.

Fair enough, phone conversations are annoying as hell to other passengers, but you can't listen to music either? What're you supposed to do to stop yourself going insane during 4 hours of silence?

What percentage of train cares are "quiet" ones? As long as it's not the whole train, I don't see the problem with it.

The way I read it, there is a "quiet zone" carriage on the train. You have a choice. I can imagine that many, even many of us, like DangerousDac, ride in this carriage. It's sort of like a non-smoking zone but automatically enforced for cell phones.

Hmm...it should be possible to make a VoIP phone, connected to a laptop in the next carriage, which is connected to the 3G network...sounds like a fun experiment (only to 'try' once, of course).

Great Idea. Now what can we do to stop the guy sitting beside me from snoring? Do they hand out tape at the door?

We are doing the opposite here in Boston. The cell companies started putting antennas inside the subway system. I don't really care, because I never rider them anymore.

Wow! A story I can legitimately comment on because I ride C2C *every fucking week*.

Long Story short: So THATS Why I cant get a signal on the fucking train.

Long Story Long: Well thats a farce. I mean, just 3 hours ago, a pair of coked up cu*ts were blazing out some of the worst Rap imaginable in the "Quiet Zone" Carriage on a c2c train, noone did anything, of course, me and my friend did mention some very blatant "can you shut the fuck up please?" comments in not as many words, but they continued on with it to the point were many older people left the carriage.

Unless theres a warden or yellow cap on the train at the time, nothing will be enforced, thats how it is atm and thats how it will be even with fancy smancy electro windows.

And on a side note, *this* is what they spent my daily £8.30 ($13.57) on and not providing shelters at the stations for people in winter? Way to go England!

MP3 players are banned? Well, loudspeakers I can understand, but headphones too?

But anyways, the cellphone signal ban is great... I really wish we had something like that around here too.

Some people just don't know how to use one. Seriously, I've seen some idiots with the cellphone mic far away from their mouths, and they kept SHOUTING on the cellphone because obviously, the guy on the other side of the line couldn't hear him.

In cases like those I think we all should be allowed to get the cellphone from the guy and use it to mash his/her head to a pulp.

You try enforcing those bans with the chavs who blare the music out of their phones in the quiet zone - you're gonna get knifed.
