Sunday into Monday at Fantastic Fest, I watched three back to back movies where the Devil was represented by a farm animal. First was the New England period piece, The Witch; second was a heavy metal possession movie called The Devil’s Candy; and third, a slow burn called February.
February gets the shaft when it comes to days in the month. While other months last 30 or 31 days, February has 28 or 29, depending on the year. Why? Well, this video explains all of the fiddling that Romans did to the calendar, and how that resulted in a single short month.
A year is almost exactly 365 days...almost, but not quite. For millennia, people have tried to create calendars that account for that "not quite" bit. It's why we have leap days and why, just once, there was a February 30.
