Pssst! Hey you! Want to win a $2000 laptop? Enter our Intel-sponsored Laptop Confidential II contest by making a one-minute film noir video, and if yours is the best, take home any laptop of your choice as long as it has an Intel Core 2 Duo processor inside and doesn't cost more than two grand. Jump for the details.

This year's contest is exactly like last year's with one difference: You can only show one actor in the video, but there needs to be multiple characters. The film must be inspired by film noir. You don't know what that is? OK, it's a type of cinematography that started in the early 1940s and typically had dark, moody lighting, often had a narrator, and usually was used in crime and drama films. Sin City would be a good example of a modern film noir movie.

To enter, upload your one-minute video to YouTube and send an email to laptopconfidential2@gizmodo.com with a link to your video and LAPTOP CONFIDENTIAL II in the subject line. Please do not reuse old content or movies—this is an original work of film noir, not a remixed one-minute version of Spiderman III. Make it great, and stick Gizmodo in there somewhere, and you'll have a chance to win the Grand Prize.

Contest starts Monday, August 6, 2007, deadline for entries is 11:59 p.m. on August 19, 2007, and all the standard Gawker contest rules apply.

All right, folks, it's been a week since the contest ended and after many late nights full of movie watching and debate between the Gizmodo staff, we have finally decided on the final 10. They will be going in a no-holds-barred voting battle where you, the savvy readers of Gizmodo, will decide on a winner. If you recall, the object of this contest was to create a one-minute-long film that followed the film noir theme. The winner will receive a Lenovo laptop valued at $1,499. After a slow start, we ended up getting over 100 entries. Check out all of the entries here.

Laptop Confidential Contest - Anticipation

Guys and gals... what can I say? I've been going over these entries and I'm absolutely delighted. There's so many cool ones and I want to roll through them all, so please bear with us. These are the entries we've found on YouTube. There are currently 117 of them, not counting Charlie and me looking like dopes. If your entry isn't tagged under "gizmodo" please email us at tips @ gizmodo dot com with a subject like YOUTUBE TAGS FIX and inform us that you have modified your tags. Otherwise, this is the pool we're hunting through.

I encourage everyone to take a gander—there are some incredible mini movies in there. Otherwise, we hope to have some finalists before the weekend.

Come on people, only a day until deadline and we are still lacking enough entries for our Laptop Confidential contest. Here is another teaser to show you lazy dumplings what other readers are putting together. This was done by Pauppage, one of our dear readers.

Now, let me clarify this for you. You can win a laptop computer—a screaming machine valued at $1,499—and all you have to do is create a one-minute film. One minute is less than one percent of the entire day, and with no football on today, what the hell else is there to do? Win our laptop!

Hot diggity damn! Another contest this week, it must feel like Christmas for you readers. Now we are giving away a Lenovo Thinkpad Z Series. It features a 1.73GHz Pentium M processor, XP Professional, 512MB of memory, 40GB hard drive, WiFi, fingerprint reader, 14-inch screen and CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive. It is valued at $1,499.

This contest is going to take a little work. We want you to create a one-minute-long film entitled Laptop Confidential. The film also needs to be inspired by Film noir. Film noir is a type of cinematography that started in the early 1940s. It experimented with dark, moody lighting and typically was used in crime and drama films. Sin City could be viewed as a modern film noir flick.

Once you have completed the one-minute flick, upload it up over at YouTube and email gizmodobox@gmail.com with a link to your video and LAPTOP CONFIDENTIAL in the subject line. Any further questions can also be directed to that address. YouTube is the video watching service where you have commonly seen Mr. Sexy himself, John Biggs reviewing some fabulous products. We insist on using YouTube so we can easily integrate it into our blog for viewing and voting. Please do not reuse old content or movies—this is an original work of film noir, not a remixed 1-minute version of Fargo. Give us something good here, kids.
