@quikboy: Adobe Premier lacks the power and ease of use of Final Cut. Adobe lost the Video war when it comes to editing. Adobe After Effects is where its at though for Motion Graphic related work.
@beekerstudios: I whole heartedly disagree. Final cut is trying to catch up with avid (in the professional field). FCP lacks some basic features that are necessary. For example, making a C-Mode EDL. FCP has a few features that I like, but it is a long way until it catches up to Avid professionally.
@whatachiouche: if you're editing 35mm or tapes - Avid is ahead - as you pointed out.
But i hate to say it - 35mm and tapes are dead, dude.
All my XDCAM footage lives on mirrored LaCie rugged drives held together with ducktape - i've never lost any footage and i've had two drive failures. i ship one of the mirrored drives separately after the shoot, or two separate people carry them back - usually we don't fill the drives, so the footage is on 3 or four drives as we travel home by duping it to empty drives on the last night.
I like it... Is there any hope for Blu-Ray authoring in DVD Studio Pro? I mean, looking at their site, DVD Studio Pro seems to have dropped off the map.
@pixelpushing: It looks like Blu-Ray authoring is there, but you won't be doing it in DVD Studio now. Instead all of the authoring will be taken care of in Compressor.
@pixelpushing: +1. I'm getting annoyed with how long it's taking for Apple to support blu-ray. I'm ready for my bag of hurt, please. I can take the pain.
@MANIKENZ: Yeah, it really looks like DVD Studio Pro is being subsumed by Compressor. Kind of weird, considering how different the interfaces are for each.

don't be a douchebag Windows luzer. $1300 was a steal... $1000 is practically giving it away.
To put it in perspective - I just bought a wide-angle lens converter that cost more than FCP.
if you need it, its unbelievably cheap.
