”iPhone 2.0 Firmware Will Have Handwriting Recognition, Go to Japan and China?
A blog on the Wretch.cc network (kinda like a Chinese blogspot) has screens from the Chinese version of iPhone's 2.0 firmware, detailing the new handwriting recognition. If it's real, which it seems to be, the new firmware will let people draw in characters with their fingers, then pick the closest approximation among choices that pop up.

New Version of Pwnage Arrives as Apple Tightens Security
We told you that the new Pwnage—the iPhone Dev Team tool to automatically hack legal Apple firmwares to free iPhone by making them fully customizable, open and unlocked—version was imminent and here it is. Gizmodo got early access to the software and it works great. But there is bad news brewing up: Apple is gearing up to battle the hackers big time. More »Latest iPhone Firmware Saves Pictures from Safari
At last! The latest beta version of Apple's iPhone 1.2.0 firmware gives you the possibility of saving pictures straight from Safari and into the Photo Album. We tried and it works: just hold your finger against an image for a longer time than usual and the popup dialog will appear. The applications are many, like saving friends' Facebook images, save loads of NSFW pics in Flickr, set iPhone backgrounds using those (or snatch our exclusive iPhone backgrounds), and perhaps the most obvious one: online porn collecting for offline porn watching. [Thanks anonymous tipsters]PSP Firmware 3.95 Imminent
Sony has announced their firmware 3.95 update should be coming soon. It's a minor upgrade, only adding two small features to the platform...but one that I find completely necessary and long overdue. First, shutting off Remote Play will now no longer necessarily shut down your PS3. Second, and more importantly, PSOne classics can now be played with customizable button layouts. Retro ports on all platforms are notorious for wonky button mapping with little or no way to tweak. Good call, Sony. [kotaku]
iPhone Pwnage Tool to Be Released Tomorrow Someday
The iPhone Dev Team's Pwnage tool is set for public release tomorrow. The tool allows you to upgrade any iPhone with the latest firmware from Apple, modified to make it work with any compatible carrier in any part of the world, and install any application, as well as adding custom payloads, additional software like SSH, FTP, and other applications.
Update: Due to legalities the Pwnage tool has been delayed. We'll keep you updated with any release information as we get it. [iPhone Dev Team]

Rumor Smashed: No Blu-ray-to-PSP Transfers in New PS3 Firmware
Turns out that the upcoming 2.2 firmware update for the PS3, which'll make it the best Blu-ray player on the block—isn't coming with the magic ability to transfer Blu-ray copies to the PSP, as PC World had reported. Sony told our garlicky cousins at Kotaku that Portable Copy (catchy name!) won't be included in the 2.2 update. Cross your fingers for 2.3. [Kotaku]

iPhone 1.1.4 Update is Out. You can get it now from iTunes. Remember, if you have jailbreaked or unlocked your iPhone, don't install it. If your iPhone is clean, have fun. We will keep updating this space with our discoveries. Apparently, the 162.1MB update "fixes bugs and supersedes all previous versions." As Leander at Cult of Mac points out, do bug patches really take up 160MBs? SDK, here we come.
