The world's largest foam machine was custom-built for the shoot, and pumped out over 500,000 gallons of foam per minute. The commercial is for Sony's cameras, and locals got Alpha DSLRs, Cyber-shots, and Handycams to shoot the experience. The amateur footage wasn't in the ad, but you will eventually be able to see it in an online gallery. While it follows the same urban pwnage theme of the Bravia ads—think clay bunnies and Superballs—we can't help but wonder, "Where's all the color?" See the making-of video after the jump. [Sony]

<![CDATA[ Nerf Maverick Office Weapon Won't Kill You, Plays Doom ]]>

Bang, bang, my baby shot me down. With a foam dart. And this Nerf Maverick, which loads six into its barrel and fires them in rapid succession at 15 feet away. And yes, ironically, this thing lets you play Doom, as shown in the video after the jump.

Cubicle wars for $12.99, six suction cup tipped foam darts included? We are ordering 10. If only for the suction cups.

<![CDATA[ Foam Factory: We Like to Party... We Like, We Like to Party ]]> - GizmodoWhat better way to endear yourself to a pair of drunken disco-dancing ladies than to spray them with an odd white foam. Why, you'll be the belle of the beach with the new Foam Factory. Inspired by the famed "foam parties" so popular with the Eurotrash of the world, this gun can expectorate 55 cubic feet of foamy sputum in three minutes and comes with a bottle of shampoo for your sexy parties.

"If this miraculous machine doesn't make you the most popular party animal in town we don't know what will," writes the breathless copywriter and we agree. However, if you come near us with that thing, someone's going to be walking home with a limp. About $100.

<![CDATA[ From Nuclear Rockets To Surfboards: A Foam Story ]]> beachboys~~_surfinsaf_101b.jpgReuters is reporting that an experimental foam material being developed to protect nuclear weapon electronics could be put to a much more hippy-approved use: surfboard cores. After the major surfboard core manufacturer, Clark Foam folded last year, a polymer chemist at the Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, California, got to thinking that if they could make their TufFoam at a lower density, then it could be used as surfboard cores. Best of all, nobody gets hurt! TufFoam is free of Toluene Di Isocynate, a toxic chemical found in the previous foam surfboard cores.
