What JVC 3D monitor did you test? JVC's 3D monitor does not require expensive shutter glasses and produces no flicker.

@dwalton: The story actually never said that JVC's system did, but I've clarified it to make that more clear. #samsung3damoledtv

In reply to Samsung's Hybrid Desktop Notebook Concept: 14-inch AMOLED Screen, 2.7mm Thin
It's beautiful, I would never use it.
BUT, there are several interesting ideas there to create something beautiful AND useful...
    The very definition of concept.

Ditching that keyboard would be the first thing. Make the screen touchable, then no problem implementing a virtual keyboard there.

But I'm guessing the computer parts would be on the keyboard... still, better to put some keys on it (at least IMHO).

Finally, everyday I say a little pray for the day gadget makers stop with the glossy crap. #samsungamoledconcepts

If only hardware manufacturers watched some anime. They'd find so many cool ideas.

    So anime FTW, yes?

    Post Scriptum
Yes I did draw that picture, so please ask for permission before faping to it - I mean, use it or modify it.

Imagine the awesome tablet PC that could be created from combining this with an e-ink display. Put the e-ink display first with the transparent OLED layered on top. Then the OLED can go transparent when reading books, but can come to life when doing normal computing. #lgamoledconcepts

How exactly would we benefit from a transparent display? The internet + zillions of widgets and apps that are already running cause enough ADD as it is. #lgamoledconcepts

@InsertBullets: But I can already share my porn with everyone, from 1 side of my display.

@Maori_Yelir: The last thing we need is HUDs in cars that show more than just speed. I can totally see another yuppie douche running over other people/cars because there HUD somehow distracted them.

EDIT: I think I know 1 use for them. Its so all the idiots at college who foolishly walk around with open notebooks can see where they are going.

In reply to Samsung Demonstrates Folding OLED Cellphone, Vindicates Thousands of Ridiculous Concepts
I'm not entirely convinced that it's actually a folding screen - it looks to me like might be split down the middle, and really be just two screens right up next to each other. The only other folding screen product I've seen is that e-ink Readius but that's more of a bend than a fold.

It'll be great when these finally arrive in products though. What, maybe 5 years? Maybe by then we'll be out of this financial crisis and be able to afford them, or we won't and we'll be living in the Stone Age 2.0....
