Huh. I was about to say that old school branding should work on fruits with rinds. Hadn't thought of impact on decay.

    Neat. Two thumbs up. #fruitlasers

I had this idea that you could put labels with the respective prices over the bins the fruit are displayed in so people would know what they're buying. I dunno about you, but I think it's fuckin' brilliant.

One day someone will prank the supermarket and etch the fruit with FREE SALMONELLA INSIDE.

Or, you can support local farmers and buy produce in-season that actually tastes good... and doesn't have stickers or lasers.

Even if you buy the really good stuff (no, I don't necessarily mean organic), I'd be interested to know how this affects flavor. A sticker and its adhesive can be washed off, the burning of peel might screw around with recipes that call for it. #fruitlasers

Am I the only one who thinks it's a slippery slope from laser etching fruits and vegetables, to putting chickens and other small game birds into polyurethane sheaths and launching them into space? #fruitlasers

I kind of really like how it tells us what the name if the fruit is.

This doesn't effect me. I don't eat fruit unless it's in a pie, and I don't eat vegetables at all. I'm not sure why I bothered to comment since I don't really care...but I did. So there you go. #fruitlasers

@chunk2242: Because eventually they'll probably apply the same labeling mechanism to meat and other grocery items, allowing them to be labeled at the slaughterhouse/factory so that stores don't have to print off labels - just wrap the slabs in plastic and styrofoam and onto the shelves it goes. #fruitlasers
