<![CDATA[Lenovo's Ultra-Cheap Notebooks: IdeaPad G-Series]]> Yes, netbooks and ultra-cheap lappies are being pumped out by everybody, and frankly, boring. But a Lenovo-made cheapie that brings some of their standard features and serious build quality down to a netbook pricepoint would be a bargain-bin laptop worth looking at. Supposedly the first in their IdeaPad G-Series will be 14.1-incher running on Centrino 2. Hopefully the pricepoint is in line with (or better than) its smaller competition. [DigiTimes via I4U]

<![CDATA[Lightweight Sony Vaio G2 Has Drip-Proof Keyboard and SSD]]> The next-generation Vaio G is out in Japan next month, boasting a Core 2 Duo CPU, SSD and a drip-proof keyboard, which shuts down the system if it detects a spillage, while diverting the water away from the important stuff. You can see how that works in the gallery below, while the gen on the G2 is after the jump.

You can choose from either a U7600 or U7500 Core 2 Duo CPU, a 32GB, 48GB or 64GB Solid State Drive and several different HDD sizes. The G2 runs both Windows Vista and XP, and there are two USB ports, memory card slot, IEEE 802.11a/b/g wireless LAN, Gigabit Ethernet and Bluetooth 2.0 and fingerprint sensor. Measurements are 277 x 215 x 23.5/25.5 mm, and Sony claims the Lithium Ion battery on the G2-KAN will go for over 11 hours.

The G2 is available in black, silver and brown and will weigh between 1.9 and 2.5 pounds and cost between 154,800 ($1346) and 270,000 ($2392) depending on which model you choose. [Akihabara and Impress]

<![CDATA[Canon Releases PowerShot G9]]> Canon released a new camera today that will sit at the top of the G-series range. The PowerShot G9 is aimed at those who don't want the bulk of an SLR, but do need some of the advanced controls that they offer.

The camera has a resolution of 12.1 megapixels, a 6x optical zoom and can shoot in RAW. It also features image stabilization and face recognition, which are almost standard on all Canon models now. It should be in stores in October, and will come bundled with a lithium-ion rechargeable battery and charger, and a 32MB MMC plus memory card, for $499.99. [Canon]

<![CDATA[Asus Steps Up Its Game with G-Series Laptops]]> They aren't as decked out as Dell's XPS M1710, but Asus' new gaming notebooks still pack enough muscle to take on most games you throw its way. The laptops are based on Intel's Core Duo and Core 2 Duo CPUs. The 15.4-inch G1 will house a GeForce Go7700 video card with 512MB of RAM while the 17-inch G2 will get an ATI Mobility Radeon X1700 with 512MB of RAM. Both laptops will have full-size keyboards along with flashing sidelights that'll light up when playing games (personally we would have preferred more powerful graphics card options). Pricing is still in the works, although Asus is throwing in a matching backpack when you buy one of their lappies.

<![CDATA[Logitech Controllers By the Bowl-Full]]> - GizmodoE3 brings out the lighter side of staid peripheral manufacturers like Logitech. Take, for example, the updated Logitech G-Series. Hee have the G25 rading wehel with force-feedback motors, the Logitech G3 Laser Mouse, and the Logitech G11 keyboard with 18 macro keys.

The G25 is particularly cool. It has a six-speed "gated shifter" and 900 degrees of rotation, which means you can really run 'em over in GTA V: Scranton. Add a clutch pedal and you've got quite a simulator.
