actually, since the plug is MINI-USB, you can use any motorola or blackberry charger and it will work just fine, we've been using a blackberry wall charger on our demo G60 in the store for a week now
@Hoodean Vafaei: Not the point. The point is this phone is an IN CAR NAV DEVICE. Common sense would dictate it should come with an IN CAR POWER ADAPTER.
If I bought a dedicated GPS and had to use my blackberry charger because the store didn't even carry the correct charger, I wouldn't be happy. This is no different.
I hate these ambiguous reviews where you have no idea what the reviewer thinks. Like it? Not like it? for the love of God, where do you stand?!?
Seriously, Garmin pays people a lot of money to sit in rooms and figure this stuff out. Which they apparently didn't. Garmin just received valuable advice worth more to them than the salaries of all the sycophants who steered them in this direction.
Garmin should absolutely leverage their software to create apps that could trounce the competition.
As much as I love my Nuvi, there are aspects about it that are prehistoric compared to my iPhone. A Garmin app on my iPhone would rule.
A failure as a gadget but will it fail as a product? Only if people don't buy it and the simple interface is appealing. I would not be surprised if this sold well despite its serious faults. The Garmin brand will suffer for this.
What a shame. I feel like I've been reading about the eventual release of this phone for years now and this is what they come out with?!
I'm not sure what niche this GPS-Phone combo would have filled now that some sort of GPS can be found on so many type/classes of phones (iphone having full fledged GPS apps and Android getting there), but I still feel like this is a huge opportunity wasted... /shakes head....
You guys have absolutely horrible coverage. I thought NYC was bad because, a year ago, you could stand in Madison Square (23rd and 5th Ave) and get 1 bar. But AT&T improved NYC's coverage.
That there are entire swathes of SF with EDGE is unacceptable - especially given that it is Apple country.
If you say Garmin-Asus as one word, Garminasus, it sounds like a disease.
I'm sorry, Ginny, he had advanced progressive garminasus. By the time he showed up in our ER, outside of providing turn-by-turn directions and saving his rollover minutes for next of kin, there was little we could do.
@CoHPhasor: The phone here is the same one they announced a year ago. We haven't seen the upcoming ones, though, so you'll have to keep checking back to Giz for those.

iPhone wasn't first but it sure seems to suggest that this isn't ending anytime soon.
Be original-er, put a clam cover on it to protect the face or something.
