It's wired, USB-powered and designed to be a portable companion for an MP3 player. You may think size sacrifices bass power, but apparently it's got an "SFX gel" base, meaning it uses any flat surface you stick it to to amplify sound volume and bass. It's got a normal driver too, takes line-in, and can be powered with a power-brick. Gear4's site doesn't reveal exactly how small it is, but it's out August in the UK for $40. <![CDATA[ Gear4's BassStation iPod Dock Thumps Out 35W of Pumping Tunes ]]> bass_station%20GI.jpgGear4's BassStation iPod dock will have a 35W pumping subwoofer, RCA connectivity and a fully featured remote control. The white on black styling looks retro enough for us to give the 2.1 stereo speaker the time of day, and the 10m range of the control gives us enough space to shield our eyes when it all gets too much. Whether it will be the worth the £99.99 ($201), is another matter entirely. Alternatively, you could opt for the undisputed, iPod Dock King. [Techdigest]

<![CDATA[ Gear4 BluEye: Make and Take Calls from Your iPod, FM Radio, Too ]]> Sick and tired of waiting for the iPhone? BluEye lets you make and take calls from your iPod. It also gives you a remote control with a microphone inside, Bluetooth connectivity between iPod and cellphone, and stops that iPod music when a phone call comes in, showing you the caller ID info on the iPod screen. There's also a clip to hold that remote and mic right where you need it.

For this product, Gear4 teamed up with Mavizen, a company that already thought of this idea, and now Gear4 adds FM radio to the mix, plus the BluEye draws power from the iPod itself instead of its own rechargeable battery. This latest iteration will be available in black or white in the UK first for 49.99 ($94).

Hey wait a minute: doesn't this baby include all of the features the iPod is missing? If it didn't require the extra paraphernalia, this would be an elegant augmentation for the iPod's shortcomings.

<![CDATA[ SonicBoom, Gear4's PSP Speaker System ]]> Sony's PSP may have seen better days, but Gear4 is hoping that its SonicBoom dock will receive plenty of attention from those looking to add a little spice to their PSP-centric life. The SonicBoom is similar to the myriad iPod docks out there in that it provides a set of just-ok speakers and combines them with a place to store and charge your PSP. Though the SonicBoom boasts ActiveBass technology, the speakers themselves have a smallish 2.4-watt per channel output. Let flow the Anjunabeats.

Even though the SonicBoom is designed with for the PSP, the familiar stereo input jack lets you hook up other portable media devices—OK, the iPod.

The SonicBoom will make its debut by mid-September for around $95.

<![CDATA[ Tiny Charger ]]> gear4 charger.jpg

This is simplicity at its best. Want to make sure your gadgets are charged on the road? Check out the PocketPower by Gear4 (previously known as Podgear). It's small, shiny, white and the totally easiest way to charge just about any of your electronics without, well, a charger. It works over USB, so you just plug it in and then piggyback your other gadgets right on top for a quick power boost. Clever. And if you got yourself an iPod, the company claims you'll get an extra eight hours out of it. Oh, and if you're not near a working USB port, you can also throw in standard AAA batteries and off you go. Retails for about $36, but sounds like it's worth every penny.
