please don't bash the geniuses as a whole. Yes, some of them are...egotistic, pompous and assholes altogether, but the majority of them are a great source of knowledge, and some truly are phenomenal at troubleshooting (many are experienced at programming/coding, which in turn yields exceptional results when it comes to determining the cause of a problem).

I think Apple chose the title "Genius" inappropriately, but the gang I worked with was an altogether cool crowd. They are still human, but do their best to get the job done, even if mailing it to depot is the last option.

On a side note, MacBook logic board outer RAM slots still haunt my dreams, and I'm glad they partially eliminated that lineup...

thankful that I'm now working at an Educational AASC

Ah yes, that niche for underachieving half-nerds everywhere, the Geek Squad.

Must be qualified to kinda sorta fix computers, but no so qualified that you could actually get a real job in IT for an actual company

What's sad is, as useless as real nerds find the GS to be, they're still leaps and bounds ahead of the average computer user. Sigh.

Best advice ever: never download anti-virus software from a company that isn't on the NYSE. I know it's tough to understand, Joe Sixpack, and Sally Kidshitter, but those programs actually ARE viruses.

The caption is not funny because it's true. Most of the macs nowdays require an appoinment with a Mac "Genius", wait for 45 - 60 minutes for him to look at your "problem" and tell you:

a) Imagine there's no problem

b) No, our hw/sw is flawless. It's you

c) Don't believe them internetz with all people reporting same problem as you (actually that one was said to me after I brought my 3gs for exchange due to sound issues plaguing many folks)

d) Tell you to pound sand

e) Tell you to call apple support for further help

Yeah, quite helpful them Mac Geniuses. At least douches in BB don't require 1.5hour wait on the phone to schedule an appoinment that'll be a total waste of your time.

What would be funny is if that beetle crashed throught he store, RMA'ing few of those d0uchy Mac "Geniuses".

@cynep: Interesting.

I've had absolutely no problem with the Genius Bar, their service, or scheduling an appointment.

As for scheduling your appointment, you can do it online for the location of your choice.

I've walked in w/ a dead iPod, and walked out with a new one. Just had to make an appointment ahead of time. But, then again I'm not having a sound issue w/ my 3GS, so what do I know?

Geek Squad is a joke. A 16 year old is just as likely to fix your computer as the tool that they're overpaying to pretend to know what he's talking about. Never had a good experience. (Granted I only tried twice)
