I'm glad that they're building this. I was quite dismayed to hear that the ability of the LHC to kill us with a black hole was only a theoretical possibility.

We've got a black hole generator, a laser that can possibly set the atmosphere on fire, and now a drill that will shatter the Earth's crust. And let's not forget the Robot Uprising and Gray Goo. I'd say we're well on the way to killing ourselves.

@Rabid Penguin: lol that quote shows that Jesus doesn't understand science. He cites the LHC and swine flu when those are 2 of the least dangerous things on the fvcking planet. He should've cited nuclear war instead.

It was probably a joke in an attempt to sound funny and simultaneously quote past articles, but people who are ignorant of how science works and freak out annoy me. Swine flu is not a big deal...statistically its weaker than the normal N. American flu.

LHC will not "end up badly." Swine flu is not a real pandemic like the spanish flu was.

The LOTR trilogy is one of my favorite movies series. The Hobbit, though not part of the trilogy is probably my favorite work of fiction. But c'mon. Morlocks on Balrogs? I don't think a Time Machine/LOTR crossover would be good at all.
