As a side benefit, ex-lax is actually surprisingly delicious with a quality holiday eggnog. Provide enough adult libations in your nog and you may never notice the embarrassing results.
I'm somewhere in the middle. I don't hate the holidays but I do get pissed off at the lengths many people go to decorate their houses and the amount of money they spend on gifts (money they don't have). It's gotten way out of control. On the other hand, I do enjoy having the time off and getting drunk with family. Giving and receiving gifts is fun but it does suck to feel obligated to buy people stuff because it makes it really frustrating sometimes. It sucks not knowing what to buy for people.
The Holiday Hater will only look at your pity gift with disdain, and use it somehow to further bolster his belief that guilt and loneliness are the driving forces that keep these silly, artificially cheerful rituals alive, and it will be a long haul to the dreadfully anticlimactic ending of yet another year, sipping mojito wine coolers, and cursing the names of people he can't remember beyond that one time he or she may have slighted him in high school, possibly while making screaming faces in his microwavable mashed potatoes.
With Best Buy, you can order online and choose store pickup. Anything purchased online by 3p.m. on Dec. 24th will be ready for pickup before closing time, in case you need to do some very-last-minute shopping.
Okay...Personally, I don't find this article informative. Reading this from an audiophile's perspective, I still don't find this article informative at all. I've been to a lot of audiophile sites and have never read about anyone willing pursuing $1000 headphones or recommending them. A more realistic gift would be a pair of $150-$200 Grados.
Ya know, you can poke fun at it all you want, but I'll bet those Wilson MAXX speakers sound a helluva lot better than your average Yamaha sound bar. So, yeah, I'm thinkin' I might be able to hear the difference.

In other words, people who hate the Holidays don't deserve any gifts
