Pay-As-You-Go iPhone Available in Europe

Hot on the heels of the announcement that iPhone users in Spain and the UK will get their iPhone 3G for free zip nada gratis zilch if they sign up for an $88-a-month plan, let's see what Vodafone Italy is planning for its countrymen. Pay-as-you-go fans will be able to buy an unsubsidized iPhone for either 499€ or 569, depending on the model. Translated into buckaroonies, that's $770 or $877. What we want to know, however, is whether it will be unlocked or not. [Vodafone Italy]

Gama-Go Keytars Are Classy and Full of Rock

Keytars! Not just the tools of '80s bands and '80s revival bands, they're slip-covers for your keys to differentiate them from each other. Our buddies at Gama-Go made these wonderful things for just $6 each. Instead of having to look closely to see which key is slightly shorter or fatter than the other (difficult when drunk), just look at their color. It's the next best thing to Keyport, except these guys don't keep your keys for 7 months and stop responding to emails. While you're grabbing this, go ahead and grab some shirts and hoodies. They're quality. [Gama-Go]

Crowded Ultraportable Party Gets Dissected

The guys over at Liliputing have a done a great service for all who are looking for the perfect low-cost ultraportable notebook. They've made a "comprehensive list of low-cost ultraportables", that not only shows you what's available and what's not, but also provides information for every unit. So if you've been craving an ultra-portable, check out the list. Though proceed with caution, 'cause if you've already decided on a model this list might make your head explode. [Liliputing]

Conquest Credit Card Perfume Makes Eliot Spitzer Happy

A perfume called Conquest which comes in a credit card made of steel, capable of storing 20 milliliters of musk-loaded liquid? Atomize it away, Mr. Spitzer, because this seems like the perfect addition to the wallets of punters, NY state ex-governors or anyone with perfume-to-go needs. Whoever you are. [Tuvie]

Intel Classmate 2 Gets Official, Available for Individual Consumer Purchase

We spotted what we expected to be Intel's Classmate successor sometime ago, but now things have become official. The Classmate 2 PC was announced at Intel's Developer Forum in Shanghai, and the spec improves on the original machine's capabilities little by little.

Intel Netbook Actually the 2go PC Made by CTL

Turns out that even though our specs for Intel's rumored Netbook were on the money—900MHz Celeron, 40GB HDD—the laptop is actually the 2go PC made by CTL. They emailed us with a full spec sheet which reveal a couple new details: The screen is LED-backlit, it's under 3 pounds and it supports mesh networking. While they wouldn't commit to a price, "under $400" is the quote, it streets in about 60 days. Hit the jump for the spec sheet. More »

A Go-Kart That Makes KITT Look Like Crap

Well, it may not actually compare with KITT, but get a load of this go-kart-inspired concept from Florian Dobe. It sports tiny 10-inch rims and seats that can fold into the body to create a sculptural look when not in use. Given the fact that no performance specs exist, it appears that the main focus of the designer was aesthetics. Not that it matters though—there is little chance that this design will see the light of day as an actual product. And even if it did exist, where could you drive it? Seriously, a grocery cart rolling into the side of the vehicle in a parking lot could turn into a fatal accident. [Yanko Design]

iPhone to Get GPS Add-on, Courtesy of Nav N Go's iGO MyWay 8

At CeBIT this week, Nav N Go has been showing off its ghetto-looking iGO MyWay 8 for an "upcoming yet-to-be-announced iPhone GPS receiver." There's no more information beyond that, except that the software looks quite boring and doesn't seem to fully exploit the capabilities of multitouch. [Pocket-Lint]

TomTom Go 930 and Go 730 IQ Route Knows Best Way to Go On Monday or Saturday

The TomTom Go 730 and Go 930 are refreshes of their 720 and 920, with two new headlining features: IQ route and advanced lane guidance. Using data collected over the last year from other TomTom devices, IQ route actually tells you the best way to go depending on the day—like, the freeway on Saturday afternoon, but backroads on a Monday morning. Right now it's only by day, but as they collect more data, it'll be increasingly specific—morning vs. night, etc. Advanced lane guidance is basically a little movie demo of massive highway junctions and turnoffs, so you don't take the wrong one. Corgi H2GO RC Car Turns and Runs on Water

The Corgi H2GO is a RC card powered by a fuel cell that gets refilled with hydrogen extracted from water. Like the previous model, the H-Racer, it uses solar-powered electrolysis to do it. Unlike the straight-line-only H-Racer, however, the H2GO is a real RC car that can actually turn left and right. Playing Dr. Manhattan will set you back $255. [Corgi via Pocket-Lint]

3D GPS Mapping to Come to US At Last

3D GPS Mapping systems are at last coming to the States: Nav N Go is making its 3D-enabled GPS software suite available to manufacturers, so hopefully some upcoming devices will adopt it soon. Their 3D maps not only cover the US, but also 70 other countries, and show terrain, elevated roads and landmarks with up to 13 miles in a single view. [MobileMag via Jalopnik]

Toshiba Totally Gutting HD DVD Prices: Will It Help?

This isn't suspicious timing at all. Toshiba is slashing the crap out of HD DVD player prices to push mass market adoption—cheap holiday deals are now locked in tight. The HD-A3's new MSRP is $150—cheaper than the 360's attachment (will it get the chop, too?)—and Toshiba's high-end HD-A35 is only $300. (Amazon has got another round of cheap HD DVDs, while you're at it.) But even if you can pick up an HD DVD player for a song, does it mean you want to? [PRNewsWire]

Everex Cloudbook Coming To Walmart.com

The Everex Cloudbook that we showed you a month ago has finally been given an official release date. So if you were hoping to get the $400 Eee PC rival, it will be available from Walmart.com on January 25th. There's no word on if you'll be able to pick one up at an actual brick-n-mortar Wal-Mart store, so the website might be the only option. [Everex]

Now Playing: TiVo2Go For Series 3 on a Mac for Free

The most recent update to Now Playing widget for OS X gives it the ability to download shows from your TiVo Series 3 and have it automatically decode for playing using TiVoDecode. This looks to be the free alternative to Roxio programs for watching TiVo2Go on your Mac. Although it's missing functionality to burn discs and sync to iPods, since you're decoding your content to MPEGs, it should be only a few more steps to get them to DVDs or portable media players. It's a Go-Kart That Folds Into a Suitcase. Any Questions?

This is a go-kart in a suitcase. I'm not sure where this came from nor do I have any info on it beyond the pictures, but really, when we're talking about a go-kart that folds out of a suitcase, what more do you need to know? This is unabashedly badass, and I want one.

London Cab Driver Takes on Sat-Nav—and Beats It By 27 Minutes

The BBC pitted the wits of a black cab driver against the latest GPS technology in an effort to find out whether man or gadget rules the mean streets of rush-hour London. And, in a result that will not surprise TomTom-challenged Londoners one bit, although the TomTom GO 720 won the first round, Andy the cabbie completely p0wned the Sat-Nav. More info below. More »
