@Rohit R.Saraf: Not so subtle plug for your website, eh...

Google's site does a good job of it already:

Gmail push is not working for me. It keeps asking for my password, and I'm sure after 10 times I should've got it right.

Maybe the servers at m.google.com are taking a beating right now.

@berbar: Was able to fix it using user@gmail.com instead of user@googlemail.com as the Google site suggests.

I love how my email shows up on my phone before it shows up on my computer. Nice.

Compared to Nuevasync, it would seem that this is MUCH slower. I'm guessing it's just because Google's servers are getting destroyed right now, but....still.

Unfortunately the iPhone only supports one Exchange account at a time. Foiled again.

Awesome, except now it isn't connecteding to google for my contacts/calendars at the moment. Suck, they are all gone waiting to connect to the server.

I have seen people talk about not getting gmail pushed to their iPhone right when it was sent for a while now, and I don't understand why they can't get this to work.

I have had Gmail pushed to my iPhone instantly for almost a year now.

    - Go to your mail settings and say "add account..."
    - Then click the Gmail logo (instead of Exhange, mobile me, etc).
    - Fill in the information needed (Name, gmail address, password, description), and save.
    - Turn on Fetch New Data, and "Every 15 Minutes."

    That is it!
I have never not received an email more than 10 seconds after it was sent.

@ChalmersCater: Congratulations. You have just told the internet that you don't know the difference between fetch and push email.

Fetch New Data every 15 minutes means that every 15 minutes, the iPhone checks for new email on your GMail account. It is not push email.

Push Email is what Microsoft Exchange is. The second that an email hits your inbox, it is sent from the server to your iPhone. For example, when an email at work comes in, it typically hits my iPhone 2 seconds before Outlook picks it up.

I assure you - you do not have Push Gmail set up using the default method in the Settings panel. Either you are mistaken in your belief that you have push GMail or you are full of shit.

i set it up. i have new incoming messages in my Gmail that i haven't clicked to read yet (on my desktop browser), testing to see how fast the Push is... it's not working. I have 2 e-mails that have been status unread for 20 mins, and I don't get any new notification (no push or even red icon on mail icon notifier).. Complex set up for Sync... with worst results than having standard e-mail set...

I am running 3.1on my iPhone

@JKinNYC: i'm trying to figure out the true benefit of having this. all is the following
    - no push
    - slower notification
    - slower grabs
    - slower downloads

Google Sync can suck it! lol
