Ah... I love virtual journeys on Google Earth. Especially with the infinitely creepy Street view. This will be a welcome addition.

Boston looks to have been updated substantially, too. Looks as if most of the buildings from downtown to Fenway are now 3D...

This is kind of scary. Such detailed map can go into wrong hands.

One of these days, Google Earth is going to be THE source for videogame levels.

Imagine importing your favorite road into Gran Turismo.

Oh how sweet would it be to play CoD4 in some middle of nowhere town in Nevada?

    Or on your own block?

    google harder, damn you!

@nutbastard: Don't blame me i voted for Ron Paul edition: The best would be a Google Earth-powered version of Desert Bus.

Of course, it would have to use the Google Earth 2007 version to truly capture out of date graphics. Everything else would remain the same - right down to the steering drifting to the right to prevent you from just using a rubber band on the controller.

Not long before your favourite racing game links with Google Earth. Next stop - Gran Tourismo NYC!

@Gizmo: I guess you've never played the PGR series.

PGR3 was accurate to the Duane Reade and HSBC banks near City Hall Park. Sure, it was only a small fraction of Manhattan, but it was done very well.

@OMG! Chrismukkah!: Seems to me that a realistic high-speed racing game in NYC would essentially be a continuous blur of Duane Reade.

@92BuickLeSabre: It was made in 2005 so it was Duane Reade, Starbucks, tourist mob, HSBC, Starbucks, Starbucks, bum, Starbucks, HSBC, Duane Reade.

@OMG! Chrismukkah!: It's amazing how effectively one can date images of NYC by analyzing the Starbucks/Duane Reade ratio and total.

@92BuickLeSabre: Especially after the Double-Cap-Latte-No-Foam Crisis of July 2008 when Starbucks started shutting down locations. Rare was the New Yorker who was not affected by it.

I remember having to change my morning routine because the 5th Avenue location where I got my Daily Venti With A Little Room closed, meaning that I had to walk five blocks north and then loop around.

    pffft, I call Photoshop!

You can tell because the shadows are all wrong on that second building to the left. Plus, there's some pixelation over on the bottom right.

If you go to the Hunts Point section of the Bronx, you can get yourself jaypegged for a $20.
