I think that these photos are an illusion. If you ever see a google street view cobalt its set up as a giant camera on top of a car, and the train barrier would be at the same level as say the cars headlights. Also im sure google sets (edits?) the picture edges so that the front of the car isnt shown. So im guessing that the google street view car is close enough to the barrier that it dissapears in the blind spot of the camera.

He is not inside the crossing. You simply don't see the barrier that is closer to his car. That is because of the height of the camera.

Just like in the above picture... it is doubtful that the car directly in front of behind him is even in the picture.

@Jack Doyle: Rotate the image. The other barrier can be seen behind the car. Therefore, the car must be in front of the barrier.

"Google Street View cars keep spreading panic and blood across the nation's roads. This time, by stopping at a railroad crossing when the barriers were down and the train was coming."

Uhm... I don't get it, what is the problem here? According to your own quote above they STOPPED at the crossing, is stopping at a railroad crossing bad? Pardon me but I am pretty sure you're supposed to stop at railroad crossings when the gates are down, no? So how does stopping at a railroad crossing cause panic agian?

Relax people. There wasn't a train coming, didn't you bother to scroll the picture around at the tracks? Plus, just look at the pictures afterward! They drive down the street and all you ever see is a red light.

There are plenty of reasons the light could be red. Near my house, they work on the tracks all the time, and the repair crews activate the lights and barriers all the time. There could be a locomotive parked too close to the crossing.

@pdok: How do you know the reasons? The barriers are down == the train is coming == don't put yourself there == get killed or traffic ticket.
