    @keyser is a reble: I doubt the people with the technical expertise to be able to delete and reinstall the firmware, etc, are going around stealing stuff.

    I doubt that the thief will look up the specs of your gps unit to see if it has security like this before stealing it. Best case scenario, you end up with a broken window, a gps unit broken out of frustration, and feces in your car out of spite.

    I like my Garmin with the Garmin lock. As long as you don't use an easy place as your unlock spot, they need your pin to unlock it. Otherwise they have to send it to garmin to unlock. Of course, I'm sure there's a way around it, but I don't want to know as it makes me feel safe.
