Scalpers are dumping PS3s back into stores, and the ones who can't just want to get rid of them. If you search Craigslist you'll find PS3s at discounted prices.

Because nobody wants these things, sellers like this one are offering it for less than the actual price. If you count tax, you're saving about $70 over what you'd pay in stores. Of course, you don't have the return policy and you can't buy a warranty on it, but if you want a PS3 cheap, now you know where to go. Personally we'd wait for Costco's amazing return policy and buy it there.

<![CDATA[PS3 Greymarket Watch: Scalpers Dumping PS3s Back To Stores]]> Despite the PS3 costing more than the Wii—and having less units available—it seems Sony's console is easier to find than the Wii. So much so that people are swapping PS3s for Wii straight up. And the scalpers who can't trade for a Wii or flip their PS3s for more than a 10% or 20% profit? They're returning the consoles to the stores they bought them from.

According to the Hamilton Spectator, these scalpers are having a tough time selling the PS3s for their asking price of $1,000 to $2,000, even during Christmas. Thus, they can either open the boxes up and enjoy it themselves, or return it to stores before their return period expires. Most are choosing the latter. Excuse us if we're not crying on behalf of the scalpers.

<![CDATA[PS3 Greymarket Watch: Don't Buy Consoles at McDonalds]]> You may never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy than Mos Eisley spaceport, but the virtual world of Craigslist runs a very close second. Example: A 27-year old San Jose man tries to buy a PlayStation 3 for $700 in the parking lot of a McDonalds.

The buyer wanted to see what was in the box, but the seller "balked" and asked "What, don't you trust me?" The non-retarded answer would have been "no", but the two swapped anyway. After the cash exchanged hands, the sellers ran off to their SUV and sped through a red light, and the buyer discovered he was holding a PS3 box with some magazines, floor tiles, and a PS2 controller.

Lessons learned: don't hold Craigslist deals at McDonalds, and always see the merchandise first. Especially when someone pulls the "what, you don't trust me?"

<![CDATA[PS3 Greymarket Watch: Jackass Wants $5 Million]]> ps3greywatch.pngAs if asking upwards of a couple thousand bucks for your PS3 wasn't enough, a jackass wants all of $5,000,000 for his PlayStation 3. He whines:

This auction is being listed to help raise money for me to pay my medical school tuition. I waited on line at Wal-mart for over 57 hours. I was even there a whole day before anyone else arrived. I was first in line and when all the PS3's were finally released to the public, I bought everything they had available and therefore, THIS IS THE ULTIMATE PS3 AUCTION! I haven't seen a bigger PS3 auction on eBay yet!

Unfortunately for him, eBay's taken down his auction. Unfortunately for everyone else, he'll no doubt scam enough money to pay for his education, after which he'll become your local doctor.

<![CDATA[PS3 Greymarket Watch: Muggers Get Caught]]> It's nice to see dudes get what's coming to them. The 21-year-old man who was shot by two gunmen while waiting in line at Wal-Mart for the PS3 is fine now, but the two idiots who shot him have been caught. Kotaku reports:

William J. Robertson, 20, and Andrew Patnaude, 17, were arrested about 4 a.m. on several charges including attempted murder and robbery.

The victim? Even after being blasted by a shotgun, his "only concern was getting those Playstation 3s." It's a shame that he only wanted the PlayStations 3 to scalp later.
