”FASTRA Desktop Supercomputer Built With 4 Nvidia 9800 GX2 Graphics Cards
Looking at new computational methods for tomography—a technique used by medical scanners to create 3D images—University of Antwerp researchers have built a budget supercomputer using four Nvidia 9800 GX2 graphics cards (a total of eight GPUs with 1,024 stream processors) as its super-calculating soul, which "perform as fast as 350 modern CPU cores." More »Cybernet ZPC-GX31, a PC in a Keyboard-Sized Case
Ok, we understand that a small form-factor PC like Cybernet's ZPC GX31 would really suit some user's needs: on a cramped shop counter-top perhaps. We even kinda admire that this gizmo squeezes in a full PC (up to Core 2 Quad CPU, Intel graphics, optical drive, HDD, up to 4GB RAM) and standard I/O ports into a "zero footprint" box that's like a chunky keyboard. Hell, it even has a touchpad and memory card slots. But we wonder: surely the world has moved on from Commodore 64-like design? Yuck, yuckity yuck. If it actually floats your boat, it's fully customizable and costs from $699 to $1099. [Cybernetman via Chipchick]

NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2 Reviewed (Verdict: Pwns Radeon HD 3870 X2, But...)
Nvidia's headlining GeForce 9 series card, the monstrous 9800 GX2, officially launched today. It pulls an old trick out of Nvidia's hat—melding two GPUs onto a single board—so you can actually go quad-SLI for a mere $1200. It completely crushes ATI's top-of-the-line dual-GPU Radeon HD 3870 X2. But is two times the GPU necessarily two times the awesome? More »

Samsung GX-20 DSLR: Pentax K20D's Guts, Different Body
Remember the Pentax K20D, with its Samsung co-developed CMOS image sensor? Well, Samsung has their own take on it—same imaging viscera, but with a different body and software. Oh, the JPEG processing is done in a slightly disparate way as well. Since the choice between the two largely comes down to looks, which one seems sexier to you? Spec sheet below. More »

New NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2 Has 2 Processors, 1GB Memory, Eats PS3 for Breakfast
The Skinny: NVIDIA's GeForce 9800, launching in late Feb / early March, will be successor to the 8800 Ultra. With an estimated 30% performance increase over the aforementioned top end GPU, and apparent support for "Quad SLI," it is certainly no slacker. The GX-5 Xtreme Swing (dropping the E makes it that much more Xtreme) ain't your pappy's backyard swing. Flinging passengers at speeds of upwards of 80MPH from heights of almost 150 feet in the air, it looks to be a supremely terrifying and fun experience. Unfortunately for us, it's only located in Singapore and New Zealand, which aren't exactly easy treks for those of us trapped Stateside. Oh well, at least we can enjoy seeing other people on it thanks to a 2fps video of it in action uploaded to YouTube. It's like actually being there! [CAN via Spulch]
Most Disappointing Transformer Ever
First off, the GX-32 Gold Lightan Transformer is actually made of silver. And secondly, the badass robot turns into a cube rectangular solid. Yes, a freakin' cube rectangular solid—the most boring geometrical shape in existence that's good for building cool things out of.
Remember back when Transformers became guns? Oh, how the mighty have fallen. $51 [product via superpunch]

MSI GX-600 Overclocks with the Push of a Button

Aside from that, the 15.4-inch notebook has some other tricks up its sleeve. More »

Ricoh Caplio GX100: 10 Megapixel Compact Will Make You Look Like a Swedish Graphic Designer
The new Ricoh Caplio GX100 doesn't only include a 10 megapixel CCD and 24-72 mm lenses in a surprisingly tight 1 inch-thick package, but it also does it in style, losing the G8's common shiny black compact look in favor of the - beloved by same, hated by others - Ricoh GR's retro style. In fact, I think the GX100 bests the GR, and let's face it, sometimes that's all that matters. More »

Nvidia's Monster 8950GX2 Video Card Gets Outted
We know that Nvidia has those budget 8800 cards coming to us, but now word has it that they're prepping a killer 8950 GX2 card with dual G80 GPUs (clocked at 550MHz) and 512MB of GDDR4 memory for each chip. The card will go for about $600 whereas their other secret card, the 8900GTX, will be clocked at 700MHz and come with 768MB of memory. The 8900GTX will go for $550. By the sounds of it, ATI's got some serious catching up to do if these cards prove to be leggit. More »Samsung uses Lions, Peacocks to Show Off GX-10 DSLR

Samsung GX-10 DSLR Shakes Off Dust, Steadies Shots
Samsung just dropped the word on the GX-10, a digital SLR that updates their GX-1 and joins the ranks of 10 megapixel shooters like the Canon Rebel XTi and the Pentax K10. Like the Pentax and Rebel XTi, it shakes dust off of its sensor with high frequency vibrations. But only the Pentax and this Samsung use mechanical image stabilization in the body, so you don't need special lenses to shoot straight. The camera can even convert RAW images to JPGs internally. The camera's back has a 2.5-inch LCD, the body is sealed against moisture and dirt, and this camera uses a Pentax type mounting system, which makes us wonder if it's built on the same base as that K10. Available in October. More »

Microboards Portable CD/DVD Producer
While Mac users often get shut out of cool, albeit somewhat useless, accessories, the portable Microboards GX-1 will potentially fill a void felt by pirates and home movie makers alike. (Yes, it works with the PC as well, by not nearly as well.) The GX-1 is a mass CD/DVD duplicator that can accept up to 50 discs at a time. Putting our Adam Smith hats on, it's pretty easy to figure out that the cost per produced disc would be lower and the 20-cent per print price tag indeed corroborates that. Of course, after burning a CD, you're able to print out a full color label that youv'e designed with the system's software. More »
