They also featured it on Seinfeld when Jerry started drugging the woman with the toy collection so he could play with the Scuba GI Joe, George could play with this game, and Elaine could play with the Easy Bake Oven and get the Gum Balls for the "Sideler".
Yeah I watched TV in the 90's. I was product of the late 80's and 90's but I remember the game from friends who still played with one until he was able to get a Game Boy.
@dolo54 blows minds and blows engines!: oh wow, I had every one of these at one point. And i was born in '86! i never bought one. i usually found them in my parents friends' basements, eventually someone just gave them to me cause i loved playing them so much.
Such a simple game, but it was so fun. And I didn't even like football that much, but I loved playing it. They also had baseball, but the best one was the basketball one.

@noamjamski: we don't need a second nub if we get a touch screen. I never understood the logic of people crying about a second nub. I thought it was a great idea at first too until I thought about it. With a second numb on the current PSP models gamers would only have access to two buttons...the L and R shoulders. It would be an awkward mess to try and play a PSP game using two analog nubs AND try to use the face buttons in any way.
Nintendo has already set the stage. Put a touch screen on that bitch and you don't need a second nub. FPS games on PSP become a viable option instead of the clumsy mess they are now. Socom on PSP could be played with m/kb like accuracy. Original, unique titles using the touch screen would be a godsend because we'd get better graphics to go with the innovation. Instead of looking at games like CoD4 on DS and thinking "damn that would be great if it didn't look like a PS1 game."
Last but not least, the PSP screen is far bigger than the DS screen. There's more you can do with it the real estate that's just not possible on DS. Sony has to see this. Why would they copy Wii motion controls and not the DS touch screen? The touch screen is THE reason the DS was such a novelty. They'd be dumbasses if they release the PSP-G without one.
@EtrnL_Frost: What is the big deal about a sd card; so what if it doesnt have one if you have a sony psp you probably already have many of there formats. Plus this format will probably have more than 2 gb's of space so using sd is not important.
@roflwaffles learned to update his screen name: But memsticks are more common than many people give credit for. Also if Sony was going to move to SD card (which I think would be a retarded move) then they should support Micro SDHC cards. They have a smaller form factor and higher capacity similar to memstick duo cards. But then the question again is...if Sony already makes similar cards why not just use those.
Naw, Sony should stick with memstick duos. it would be nice if you could use either/or but whatever. As long as I can max out my PSP-G to at least 32 GBs I'm happy. Then I can load up on PSN/PS1 games, PSN TV shows and movies and lots and lots of smut...it's unamerican to have such a device and no smut.
@EtrnL_Frost: I'm no member of Sony's board or anything, but the fact that Memory Stick HG-Micro is their own card could be a big factor as to why they chose the card...that and the 60 MB/S transfer speeds.
@SeithsOwn: Maybe they don't want it to be an iPod meets DS. The type of games that the PSP has would be difficult to play if you had to jump back and forth between using buttons and the touch screen. I can't imagine how hard it would be to play God of War if I had to find some way of hitting the screen every once in a while.
i think this is a bad move. They need to try and take a bite out of Nintendo's market and this is a step back.
When a huge demographic is younger kids, having to download/save game data on the device might me a bit to complex for billy and Suzie the soccer mom. umd/cartridges are a must when its a "hey kids get in the van we are going into town" kind of day.
@switchblade saints: I disagree. There are kids that are more tech savvy than adults. But as was stated, the demographic isn't the same. Personally, I'm looking forward to the PSP-G. I'd rather have my games on memstick anyways. The 7or 8 I have on memstick now are so much more convenient than carrying four or five UMDs in my carrying case.
@switchblade saints: Removing UMDs from the system and having a physical media are not mutually exclusive. It is possible to release games on these Memory Stick HG Micro cards. Also, there are rumors of game kiosks being deployed, which could make it easy to add games to your own memory cards.

first app that I bought, worth all 99 cents!

Pretty pretty pretty please? I don't see why a second stick moving forward would hurt backwards compatibility of older games.

SD or fail, Sony. SD or fail.

Because they are more expensive and less common then SD cards, and work in less devices.
