Dammit, I want that Samsung 55" led 8000 series soooo bad. Has anybody out there ever ordered from Abe's of Maine electronics? They have that TV for $500 less than Best Buy. Plus it comes with a free wall mount and no tax or shipping. So really its like $900 off.
@LEWD98: I've ordered from them in the past with great results, and I've also been out to their "showroom", which is little more than a storefront jam packed with 100's of thousands of dollars in electronics.
It's strictly a no-frills operation, but in my experience, they can be trusted.
As with anything, a $900 savings sounds awfully good, which means you should probably spend an awfully long time reviewing their fine print, about both their returns and the product in question (is it refurbed, does it come with a warranty, etc, etc).
HD Guru's 10 Best TVs You Can Buy (Including Our Top 5)
you don't have to validate your story for me, wilson. if they didn't list the same five as you i would have asked HD Guru why they omitted the obvious selections.
Dropping a 40" TV from 2200 to 1300 is not a sale. It appears to be because it's cheaper, but it's still a rip off. Having any 40" under 700 should be the norm. I have a 42" 120hz for $700 and it kicks ass. Especially when I use it as my computer monitor. Nobody, i repeat NOBODY should look at Gizmodo with anything less than a 1080p 42" viewing.
@Sean Scrooby Grube:
The real amusing part: most of these tv's are already on sale. The prices listed show the retail prices, not the current sale price you would get if you went in today. The difference in price between today and tomorrow is only about a hundred dollars, on average.
Unless you need a TV right this minute, you're better off waiting a couple months for the holiday deals. Unless the economy turns around tomorrow, there are going to be some serious discounts this Black Friday. I'm not proud, I'll punch out some Walmart shoppers to save hundreds of dollars on a new TV.
