    I have to disagree - $20 allows me a digital HD copy of the movie. No blu-ray player and no conversions. Plus I get a copy of the movie in standard def for my iPhone or laptop...that's a good deal. I was thinking about sandbagging the AppleTV and going blu-ray, but after this, AppleTV is going to have a new life.


    I too wonder if the HD is 720p or 1080p. Now, if we can get DVR and Hulu permanently on Boxee, the AppleTV is a device to be reckoned with. Oh yeah, Apple has to take a note from the Boxee iPhone app - true genius there.

    $20 is your cost for a Blu-Ray? If that's the case I may just go pick me up a Blu-Ray player (with DVD upconversion, naturally). Last I checked, new movies were between $25 and $30, which is just a bit more than I really wanna pay for a new movie. Of course, I tend to buy all my physical movies used anyway, but still.

    @OCEntertainment: If you steer clear of bixbox retailers you can find brand new Blu-rays pretty decently priced. eBay is your friend.

    @Daniels Bondars: Or possibly even something else? Excellent question, Daniels. We, as consumers, need to start demanding from vendors EXACTLY what they mean, spec-wise, when they say something is "HD".

    freely, as in, easily and often and without corporate, government, or techinical limitations?


    or


    freely, as in, for no cost to the consumer?


    This is a very critical distinction.

    Porn lived off its "we killed Betamax" honors for years, but is no more prepared these days to be a kingmaker to Blu-ray or any other format than your mom is. Yes, I said your mom.


    Porn now dutifully follows gamers like everyone else, no matter how much Stormy Daniels shows up on G4TV. I was surprised to see this article wasn't a year old.

    What's wrong with porn in HD? If anything it'll undo what porn has done to our society. It has made us have higher expectations in a woman's appearance. It's obvious who the chronic porn viewers are. The ones who have high expectations in women being perfect.

    @Gustavo Rocha: Porn's illegitimate setting of expectations has more to do with things like breast size and choice of clothing than it does about "number of track marks" and "size of genital warts."
