    Why can't they make one cable to rule them all? Shouldn't it be possible to create a single cable that exceeds requirements for all existing formats, and each format can use whatever part of the cable it needs?

    This makes me happy that I still use the old fashion tricolor RCA cables at home. I'm sick of all these different plugs and I don't even use them.

    @Digitallysick: Displayport is an open free standard, so you know someone is going to try to make something that they can actually make money off of in licensing.

    Just another way for them to make the plugs on the ball smaller while keeping the cords the same thickness and the ends almost the same, putting more pressure on the plug on the board, which will lead to more failures. To quote Leo Getz,

    "That's how they fuck you. They fuck you with the connectors."

    @Gareth Eynon: Small connectors break easily under load. You couldn't dangle three feet of HDMI cable off that thing 24/7.
