Ugh! Enough with this crap already. Yeah Apple's ads were funny at first but now even they are getting lame. Microsoft's better-late-than-never attempt to respond with their own campaign was just plain stupid. They should be focusing their efforts on showcasing their own products instead of poking fun at the competition. And now for the Linux community to do the same, well personally I thought they had a little more respect for themselves.
The more everyone tries to Think Different the more it all ends up being the same....
I'll be the first to admit that I am not well studied on the current state of Linux, but what is Novell doing making Linux commercials? They do stuff beyond NetWare?
Umm... Who will these ads appeal to? If Linux makes ads, I feel like most people that would be influenced by them to make a change will have no clue in setting it up. A good portion of the general public doesn't know that Linux exists, and that's ok, because they wouldn't be able to make it work anyway.
@phreakincool: When I see the phrase "hot Linux girl" two images come to mind. The first is buxom babes in skimpy bikinis who obviously have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with Linux, nor will they, EVER.
The second is more like aggressive, radical feminists from the 70s. Probably covers all the linux users actually.
@alpinerover: Oh because he's a crazy fundamentalist wierdo who is out of touch with reality, and had his day but is now, actually, little more than a joke?
@alpinerover: That's the one thing I have always respected Linux fans for, they can typically acknowledge criticism without resorting to denial or snarky come-backs, like most users in the other two camps.

We've had our differences, but we parted amicably.
As for the commercials by the users? Well...this could get interesting.
Looks like it's time for the Linux folks to shine!
