It should be noted that before NORAD took over tracking Santa from CONAD, the Greek Orthodox National Air Defense or GONAD supplied critical intel to their American counterparts.
@OmniZero: Well, from what I understand, they usually make them take off their shoes and get wanded before they enter the US. For some reason they always seem to give Rudolf extra screening, possibly b/c of his glowing red nose.
1955 - 2008 > 50 years. Every year since the actual 50th anniversary in 2005 some boob has reported that THIS is the 50th anniversary year, welcome to boobtown Giz.
Knowing that NORAD is devoting resources to tracking Santa on Christmas, would that create a window of vulnerability in the system? What if Santa could be gotten to? I hate to think what would have happened if it had been Santa instead of Jack Bauer who wound up in that Chinese prison.
What I find refreshing is that Santa is kind enough to allow his holiday magic to be penetrable by radar. How Sears got the idea to pass kids onto CONAD for a look-up seems a bizarre mystery to me, however. It speaks of some cloak and dagger corporate-government-Santa secret network to me.
@Fractal the Meek: It normally isn't, but kids starting requesting Radar Reflectors for Christmas, and once they did, Santa couldn't mask the sled anymore.
Cool. And if I hang this on the tree and take it down after the holidays that would just about coincide with how long Firefly was actually on the air..
