The Opus No. 4 is still shown on their site as maxing out at 1TB for $1799. The site also doesn't have a press release after 4/2/08, which is odd...
I never understood these things. You want real audiophile, this thing doesn't hold a candle to the slimdevices Transporter coupled with a network NAS. I'm guessing even a Duet and a network NAS makes a better system with a lot more flexibility. How does this company stay in business?
God I hate it when I can't identify things I feel I should be able to....What the hell computer is that? It's not a late 2006 model MBP, because I have one, and it looks almost exactly like that except for the keyboard, which is silver, not black. And it can't be a current model MBP (even though they have black keys) because the screen lip on it is silver (like on my late 2006 MBP), not black like it is on current MBP's. Which explains my confusion....What the hell is that?
@TheSonOfKrypton: Yup, the matte display kit... really ruins the looks of the machine, makes it look like a previous generation MBP with a black keyboard.
I like the think of it as Apple's way of saying 'screw you, if you want matte then you can look like you have an old computer!'... or something like that.
@TheSonOfKrypton: I was thinking the exact same thing. It's definitely a Unibody MBP, but doesn't look like a TechRestore job - the bezel is actually black when they do it....unless they're now offering an aluminum-like finish, which I haven't seen on their website. Any off-topic insight, Wilson?
Didn't they make this already, only it's called Airport Express and it doesn't require an extra dongle to carry around?
If they wanted to make something like this that was worthwhile, they'd make Wireless speakers that use 802.11 G or N to do it and accept IP streamed audio input.
@EncNone: That's for the picture—I never actually used it with the laptop in the middle of two speakers. You can put the laptop anywhere, including another room.
As noted in an earlier post, I still love my old Sony Quadraphonic system, but it only has the turntable, radio, and audio inputs...no 8 track. And (as said before), I mostly hook my iPod up to it now, so it loses its true purpose.
We did have a sweet little "portable" 8 track player with speakers that popped out of the side. I was crushed a few years back to discover that my parents had stored all of their 8-tracks in the garage, where the Oklahoma summers had melted them into faded plastic cases filled with cooled brown ooze.
The complete collections of Earth, Wind, and Fire and Jim Croce...gone! Gone!
Love this review of the 8-Track GE Receiver. My dad still has his hooked up in his garage, with a working 8-Track player. On the downside he only has two working 8-Tracks; Santana's Abraxas (sp?) and the Hawwaii 5-0 soundtrack. I remember playing with all of the switches and dials when I was little, pretending that it was a radar station, thanx for the throwback guys!
@VivianaEmu: Sounds like you're close to being right. It was recorded that way, but then mixed down into stero:
Pete Townshend: "The whole conception of Quadrophenia was geared to quadraphonic, but in a creative sort of way. I mean I wanted themes to sort of emerge from corners. So you start to get the sense of the fourness being literally speaker for speaker. And also in the rock parts the musical thing would sort of jell together up to the thunder clap, then everything would turn slowly from quad into mono and you'd have this solid sort of rock mono ... then a thunder clap and back out again. We spent months mixing it and then found out that MCA was using the CBS quad system and ... you might as well forget it. So our engineer remixed it in the same manner that it was mixed in stereo, the same sort of creative approach."

Also, Love the SparkleMotion prefix to your name. That cracks me up!! You know, sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion, but now you've reaffirmed my faith in you.

It just doesn't look organized.
Just give me a simple DVD tower, and I'm fine.
