HELL NO. Hulu doesn't even have a fraction of the content I watch via cable, and the quality is lower than HD cable. So until Hulu has the content I want at *real* HD quality - fuck no, I'm not dropping cable.

I rarely watch cable as it is...

However, there is one aspect of Hulu that regular cable still has it beat on, and that's the random, passive stumble-upon method of finding things to watch (and possibly enjoy). When I sit on the couch and fire up the ol' picture box, I'm randomly surfing around at content that's just streaming along regardless of whether or not I'm watching it. I might catch a movie midway, and suddenly realize that I like what I see, and it could've very well been a movie that I would never have paid to see in theaters, yet would've enjoyed it immensely if I did. Does this make me a lazy bastard? Fuck yeah it does, but that's just my take on the whole thing.

That said, I'd probably keep cable for random surfing, and Hulu for to make up for all of the stuff I really like but often miss.

I think cable has already lost me even though I have every channel free.

I can stream a movie without download before it even comes out.

I can access every movie pretty much.

I can do it on my 17' anywhere.

I can get XXX stuff of any variety.

Plus I have 1000+ channels for free on cable so eh. Oh, and I'm a workaholic. If I didnt have to listen to people repeating the story for the 5th time on a conference call I wouldn't even have time to comment!

Were it not for the kids (yes, I actually care about them - on Fridays), I would dump television entirely, but the damn rugrats need to have Rugrats every day, and I am required (legally, mind you) to oblige them. Personally, I live by Netflix and really do not have time for standard television programming. I am too busy commenting on Gizmodo trying to get to 10,000 posts in two years.

Peonies!: When my then-girlfriend and I moved out to SF for a couple of years in the late 90's, we were really excited that our first day there, there was going to be this huge street fair that was being advertised everywhere. So we went, with anticipation of arts and crafts and snacks and music.

For the rest of the country presumably not familiar with the Folsom Street Fair, it's a gigantic street party of the S&M and leather crowd, all enjoying a day in the sun. And maybe in a harness as well. Or even a sling. Need I say more?

Yes. Already have. The new Hulu desktop (Mac for me), even as a beta, is terrific. And I can say, with all sincerity, that there is NOTHING that can or will give me greater absolute satisfaction than seeing the day that Comcast goes bankrupt.

@GiantEnemyCrab: If they would post new episodes the same day they air, I would be a LOT more inclined to ditch cable.

Daily shows... like, uh... The Daily Show need to post the same day they air (obviously not before the show actually airs that day, but with The Daily Show they tape way earlier that day so I don't think it would be too hard to figure out a way to get the streaming cut of the show finished and queued up to post on hulu the same day...)
