I don't think I was ever bored when I was a kid. And I didn't have any of the crap that kids have these days. I listened to music, made up my own games, and did so many other things. What's wrong with kids today?

When I was a kid, if you got bored (and were dumb enough to say so) you either got a ton of work to do, or the sh*t slapped out of you. No more boredom.

I don't know why people hate the fact that kids can have DVDs in the car these days.

When I was a kid, rides were BORING and rubbish... why should a child be interested for more than a few minutes staring out of the window, maybe for an hour but longer... ack.

I have the issue with flying these days, not doing anything etc. So I try and watch a film, watching i makes the time pass faster... i've watched one more movie that I planned to watch, thus gives me more time when I could do 10x the different types of things.

When my kids are older, they can have a video in the car for long journeys, if they ask for more, they can have travel bingo or STFU. And they won't get their own ones either, as I will choose the movie, there, they get something to do, but I still decide what it is... now tell me that child is spoilt.

@drsquirrel: When I was a kid, I was actually glad to see the scenery rushing by. I was not as interested in listening to music or watching a movie, though at the time things like iPods and DVD's did not exist. I was not into the internet, since the internet was not really worth watching for long sessions at the time anyway. I was actually more into reading back then, and was more at ease left to my imagination. Of course, after finally delving into the internet, watching a plethora of DVD's and playing video games, that crap's set sail.

@Kaiser-Machead: As a kid I watched scenery, watched clouds rush by and learned about the courtyside in car trips. I also read. A lot. I remember on one packed to the wall car tripI escaped into Jurassic Park and had the best time ever. I read that book in two days flat the first time and utterly killed it. My beaten, broken copy of Jurassic Park is one of my most treasured books for this reason.

@RoboBagins PAX'd till he Plotz'd: Wow. That was one of the first novels I ever really dived into as a kid as well. I had actually read it before the movie was released, and while everyone else was all ooohing and aahing at everything, I was a little disappointed.

How long could anyone sit there watching it? I used to do it on the train for hours at a time every week, made me sick... meh.

I do like to do it though, I just think its a bit pointless when its going by so fast, or you are just staring at fugly motorway debris.
