    @dagamer34: Apple doesn't NEED to showcase it's OS. They make the whole package: computer + OS. The only reason MS showcases their OS is because they HAVE to. And because they NEED to do it in order to push units, especially considering the tragedy that is/was Vista. Every version of OS X is a step above the last one, and never a step backward. Granted, it may not be a huge, giant step forward, but it's a step forward nonetheless. So you can rest assured that it's not going to be a complete disappointment like Vista, Windows ME or Windows NT (3.0) were. #windows7wasmyidea

    The cuts are so quick, the only time I had time to process what was going on was when the foreign lady says something to the effect of "abso-fucking-lutely," which was obviously planted there on purpose to get the spot buzzing on news networks about profanity in a Microsoft ad.

    Microsoft has a pre-written statement saying that the woman said "abso-fricking-lutely," that they understand the confusion, and that they apologize to anyone who was offended. Newscasters will end their segments with "Windows 7 was released by Microsoft today, which Microsoft says solves all of the problems that users had with Vista," giving not only free advertisement to Microsoft, but also a release notice to the general population.

    God, am I really this jaded about viral advertising? #windows7wasmyidea

    @Robotronic: No, you're not. If Microsoft had to pre-write a statement clarifying the word, then that demonstrates they knew it would be an issue, and kept the entirely expendable word in there. How many takes do directors usually do of even the smallest line in a commercial. She could have said "absolutely" and there'd be no issue. I think it's safe to assume they did it on purpose. #windows7wasmyidea

They only show her for a split second and I didn't have time to go back over the video frame by frame to determine her nationality, only to be wrong and then get flamed on a technicality.     @thetickler: I'm always waiting on my MBP. The difference is that unlike a Windows system, it can be hard to tell if it even knows I clicked since even the interface goes stiff when it's loading something. #windows7wasmyidea

    @presto117: When I first got into using Macs (of my own, every day - not counting school/work) it was OS 10.4. One of the hardest things to get used to was how if the computer was bogged down with something, I'd click a button, or similar interface element, and there would be absolutely no visual change to it. Under Windows XP, that would indicate a once in a few years total system lockup, since while it may not always do something when you click, buttons will at least depress to show they got the message.

    And you have a MBP with absolutely no load time on anything? Wow. It takes almost a second just to load my preferences, not that that's an unreasonable time. I'd really say wait times are comparable between 10.4/10.5/10.6 and XP SP1/SP2/SP3 given the same hardware.

    @fuchikoma: I know what you mean. In OS X, It still feels awkward not getting any immediate visual feedback after clicking a button/item. It's most apparent with the menu bar since there's no visual feedback when hovering over an item nor immediately when you click it. It's only when the menu fully loads that you see any sort of visual changes. #windows7wasmyidea

    @LaneWinree: 1 I did use the Windows 7 beta and RC thank you very much. 2. I have read every article that giz puts out just as I do everyday. 3 . No, I do not have a bias against any company. I just want to be impressed but I am not. Vanilla is nice every once in a while but all Microsoft puts out these days is Vanilla and they can do more than that. They could be completely innovative and rock the technology world if they want to but hey play it safe. #windows7wasmyidea

I have standards and want an OS that is clearly more than a fix to something they should have done right the first time.     I'm a fan of functional operating systems, which is why I love Snow Leopard and Windows 7. I claim no allegiances to any particular OS developer. You, on the other hand are a chronic anti-Microsoft troll.

    Sexy isn't everything in an OS. In fact, I'd argue sexy isn't even important. Function is what matters, and Windows 7 and Snow Leopard are incredibly functional, stable, and well-designed operating systems. #windows7wasmyidea

    This commercial is seriously cute and hilarious. A few are complaining about the music choice, but I find it so out of the ordinary that it is bound to gather plenty of interest.

    This year is a good year for Operating Systems. I'm loving Snow Leopard and October 22 seems too far away.
