Rumor: T-Mobile Lusting To Buy Sprint

T-Mobile may be smallish in the US, but it's owned by German giant Deutsche Telekom, a company plenty powerful enough to buy up Sprint if it wanted to...and the rumor mill says it may want to. The Inquirer points out the obvious network issues that might arise. After all, what do you get when you cross a GSM network barely on HSDPA but harboring LTE aspirations with a CDMA/EV-DO franchise who's experimenting with WiMax while lugging a legacy iDEN network around for God-knows-what-reason? Boost Mobile's half-inch thick Motorola i425 iDEN candy bar is now up for grabs for a mere $40. It comes in black with slate trim or white with espresso accents, and features push-to-talk and IM. [Business Wire]

Motorola Shows Off Cheap Sexy Still-Unannounced i335 for Nextel

The i335 is a thin candybar with a rubber keypad that feels like leather and a funky corrugated plastic back. It's been rumored here and there, and should not be confused with an older Moto with the same name. Regardless, Motorola and its partner in iDEN crime Sprint (as in Nextel) have yet to say anything more than that it'll be out for holidays and it will be "affordable." Yeah, it's missing a camera, a big LCD and any kind of bandwidth. But it's better looking than the other Nextel phones, and its price, still unannounced, is supposedly rock bottom.

Motorola i290 Expected to be Heading for Sprint

Those chaps at the Phone Arena have put their money on Motorola's i290 phone becoming the first slimline iDEN model for the Sprint network. Although its screen is a bit on the titchy side, the i290 packs enough features to be useful and will fit in your pocket without you making you look like Spinal Tap's Derek Smalls at airport security. Motorola ic502 Gets FCC Approval

The Motorola ic502, which is poised to become the first iDEN/CDMA dual mode cellphone, just received approval from the FCC, paving the way for its introduction on Sprint. Also known as the RACER, the ic502 supports the different mobile technologies to varying degress; iDEN support is limited to dispatch only, making calling this a dual mode cellphone a bit of a stretch. New iDen's Identified

Motorola is preparing some new launches for its less glamourous line of iDen phones. They don't get names like RAZR or The Pebble, but these mobiles are always hearty and well-made for those of you who may actually use them for more than a fashion statement. The FCC has filed some details and what we know of now is three phones: the i870, the i450 and the i415. Two of the new phones use BOOST mobile for walkit talkie service and the flagship i870 has a 1.3 megapixel camera with flash, bluetooth, MP3 player with external controls, WiDEN high speed data and a push-to-open hinge.
