The thing takes a good amount of time to change—this ain't no Bumblebee—but something tells us that if Dexter was in one of these instead of a real shipping container, he wouldn't be as messed up as he is now. <![CDATA[Illy House-in-a-Shipping-Container Comes to NYC]]> What looks like a rusty old shipping container from the outside turns into a posh "living space" at the touch of a button in this Quik House by Adam Kalkin. More than a mere concept, it's a fully functioning object d'art, and it'll be set up and accepting visitors in Columbus Circle in NYC between November 28 and December 29 of this year. Not only will you get to check out a cool piece of outside-the-box (or inside-the-box, I guess) design, but you'll get a free espresso when you go. Oh man, I am so there. Hit the jump to see it fully closed and fully opened.

<![CDATA[X6 Trio: Espresso Tech]]> The high-end coffee maker Illy unveiled a new espresso machine, the X6 Trio, this weekend in Milan. The bellissimo concentric circle design allows for making long, normal or strong shots with just a twist of the handle into different positions. There is an electronic control system on the inside outfitted with bronze valves and plastic tubing that all-but guarantees the correct pressure. The boiler itself is made of brass for thermal stability. Making perfect crema should be a bit easier now. I am very much looking forward to the coffee hacks that are supposedly going to be featured in the next issue of Make.

The X6 Trio will be available stateside in October for around $375.
