Fake Rumor Thursday is taking a hiatus this week, due to the fact that nothing interesting happened over the week. Call it I'm out of juice.

Well, maybe one.

1. For iPad 2.0, rumor has it that the dev team is actively looking into adding a native Chatroulette support.

@Damage (Thank You, May I have another): In more news, Microsoft decided that Windows Phone 7 will not only lack copy & paste and multitasking, but that all apps must go through a month long approval process in which any discovery of explicit language or erotic or sensual images will be grounds for immediate rejection. Additionally any and all apps that MS deems to have violated their prior IP will be rejected and sold directly by MS without proof required that the IP belonged to them.

Watch a Neuron Go Bad

Just like hard drive sectors can fail, neurons can go bad as data processing, memory-storing units in your brain. In this video, a neuron lacks the protein needed to make connections with other cells, essentially becoming a bad sector. More »

@yoavraccah: Those are generally agreed on as one of the best In Ear Monitors that you can buy without going custom.

Now, if you want something that's less colored (probably) than the SE series, you have the SCL series which were the original IEMs to hit big with the consumer/prosumer/audiophile crowd.

I can't vouch for the SE series since I've not heard them.

On the other side, you have Ultimate Ears (by Logitech). Thanks to a killer deal in December, you can pick up a Triple.Fi 10 IEM for about $150-$200 on eBay or Craigslist. If you have big enough ears, this is my recommendation as they are pretty freaking damned nice sounding. But then again, they go $400 retail.

To add, if you are going to go the Shure route, do get extra "Black Olive" foamie tips. They make using the headphones very easy, seal out more noise than silicone tips, gives extra bass (based on seal mostly), and generally makes the IEM experience that much more friendly.

So I'm thinking of upgrading my mouse from that cheapy/generic Microsoft mouse to something that can also be used for a mix of casual and serious gaming as well. (As for the games, I usually play FPS and RPGs, sometimes some RTS as well). On the topic that I want to get a new mouse, the scrollwheel is being a pain since it isn't stopping correctly.

I don't mind if its wireless as it'll help if the mouse is fairly tall which may not suit my desk configuration.

I'm thinking of getting a Sidewinder X8 wireless, but the cheapest I can find it is $85 +$15 postage online. Though I'm not sure if there's a decent Logitech mouse I could buy instead.

Also, the JB HiFi nearish my uni has the Madcatz MW2 Sniper Mouse for just under $90, I'm not sure if that'll be a better choice than the Sidewinder. Also, not sure with how it handles/durability/other details, since I can't find any reviews on it online. They have some Logitech mice. I can't remember specifics, but they were gaming mice as well and over $115)

As for buying online, I don't have any form of payment until I sign up for a Debit card (won't need to pay fees as long as I'm in uni.)

@Odin: Thanks for the heads up, I've heard good things about the Sidewinder X8 through Giz and various other sites.

One thing I'm not sure of is the legitimacy of the online stores I found. May not want to buy off of eBay in case I spend more than I actually wanted.

Oh, I forgot to add, the prices are in AUD.

Who here lives in New York? I graduate in December and have cash in pocket to live off for a few months if I can keep expenses to under $1,500 a month. That should be enough time to find work and such.

Any pointers for someone moving to the big bad city of NYC from the... big bad city of Houston?

@magnus84: at under $1500 a
month find a roommate quick fast.
Williamsburg is not an artist haven - the hipsters ruined that some time ago.
Familiarize yourself with a Metrocard and the Subway.
If you currently drive don't count on it for under 1500/month.

Good luck and and when you do make the move post something on #whitenoise; impromptu #whitenoise meet up.

Metrocard = $89 for an unlimited monthly fare...use map.. dont be ashamed...study it.
Familiarize yourself with north, south, east, west...will make your life easier..

Roommate is crucial 1500 is typical half of my friends share now a days...in Brooklyn... you may get lucky tho..so its a given...alot of cheap places in manhattan too all my ex's lived in upper east/west side for 1400 a month... they split the rent so half of that was great for the location.

Getting work is the most important thing you should do incase the roomie turns out to be an asshat...

Dont get arrested it may take 2 days to see a judge.

pizza is 2.00 or 2.50...cook at home

Clean undewear everyday in case you get hit by a car.... or meet a girl.. theres like 3 girls per one male here...youll love it.

Theres much more I left out.....

@Googlo: "3 girls per one male here...youll love it." I think I might have to move earlier than expected...

I am working on finding a job before I even move, but like I said, have saved up to be able to go about 5 months on expenses of $1,500 per month, and an emergency fund of $5,000 for unforeseen circumstances or a ticket out in a worst case scenario.

That's a good idea. Put out a feeler for a meetup with Gizmodes (plural gizmodo users?). I have till December to finish planning my move. I might skip the winter and plan for Spring or Summer of 2011 so that I can start with more familiar weather (I am a noob with snow)
