Hey, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? Um, NO. Imitation is a condensed way of saying "hey look at me I copied someone because I have no imagination of my own."
That's one hell of a poor imitation. The impact of the original one is a lot higher than this one. And it's all caused by scale and form factor. The Water Cube is (more or less) what it says it is; a 'cube'. 5 sides (technically 6), and a huge bubble like completely supportive structure.
This seems a lot less interesting, with almost no impact: it's too edgy, not a cube at all. And I even want to bet that these bubbles are not a structure at all, they're just a facade, attached to an invisible (normal) wall..
A friend sent me the same picture last week. Only the front of the building is illuminated though. It doesn't look anything like the water cube in the daylight.
