A new sensor technology promises to make cellphone cameras good enough to use for wedding photos.
InVisage Technologies, a Menlo Park, California-based company, has developed an image sensor using quantum dots instead of silicon. The company claims its technology increases sensor performance by more than four times.
"We have all heard ‘Gee, I wish the camera on my iPhone was better,’" says InVisage’s President and CEO Jess Lee. "But the heart of the problem is in the heart of the camera, which is the sensor."
Most cameras today used either a CCD (charged-couple device) sensor or a CMOS (complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor)-based sensor. The silicon in current image sensors has a light absorbing efficiency of only about 50 percent, says Lee.

Just rewatched Terminator 2, probably my favorite film of all time, with the director commentary by James Cameron. Such a great movie. Almost 20 years later and it still holds up like crazy.

Any lost fans out there? I've been excited for some fucking answers this season, ya know since it's the season where everything gets answered. But so far there have been no answers (at least nothing we didn't already know). Oh yeah and sayid's a dick hole.
@shadzow: Without spoiling it, they explained the numbers, and seem to close the book on the fate vs free will thing. And what smokey is. We've been given a lot of answers this season.
@badhatharry: The numbers were an end of time equation thing that the dharma initiative set out to stop and they broadcasted them on the radio affecting people and the numbers are linked to each person, but the full meaning of why the numbers are the numbers hasn't been explained. We pretty much new everything we know now about 'smokey' or as I call him, locheness last season there's nothing really new this season other than some confirmations to things we already knew.
@shadzow: I literally just finished Season 5 finale today. I've been getting s6 off of hulu for a while, downloading it to be ready for when I can finally watch it.
I'm completely hooked. yet I think I'm going to take a week or two off to concentrate on my studies a bit.
@RT100: Yeah actually I stopped watching lost and then randomly decided to start watching it. I was on about season 3 when I found out the last season would be airing soon. I watched rapidly and actually finished the last episode of season 5, 1 hour before the season 6 premier. Oh and just for the record if you search up lost on abc's website and click "videos" you can watch (last time I checked) every episode online.
Remember the Loop? It was an accelerator-equipped remote for media centers that arrived last June. It worked pretty well. Now the company behind it, Hillcrest Labs, is going to try its hand at a web browser called Kylo—for television!

I served some up one time as a joke, claiming they were my take on a regional specialty. But everyone kept eating them. I laughed at all the fools (under my breath) at first, but then I started to wonder. Finally, I couldn't take it any more. There were hardly any left! So I tried one.

Any time you listen to a piece of music on regular (read: pretty junky) headphones/speakers and then switch to marginally decent ones (or better) the whole song changes dramatically.
Case in point: with bad speakers, you can miss out on important bass lines (e.g. So What by Miles Davis)

Hurricanes are formed when ocean water heats up and evaporates, and ocean water heats up when hate is directed towards it, and Katrina formed off of Africa, and white males hate black people, so Katrina was caused by white males!"
My history teacher praised me for my "dry, witty retorts that keeps the class grounded."

@habsfan321: Very true, good point. However, I think I'm still very much stuck in the past where I expect everyone (not just the Stars) to beat the Coyotes almost every single time they play them.
Phoenix is number 2 in the standings, Stars are number 13. Maybe are hopes and expectations are too high?
So .. I have about a terabyte of magic tutorials (books / videos and such..)
I was just doing some cleaning out of the files when I stumbled upon some old tricks from when I was frist learning magic. Easy stuff, no skill needed magic tricks - that look great when preformed.
Would anyone like to learn an easy card trick they can perform to friends and family w/ no sleight of hand needed ?
- I figure it's better to ask if anyone cares before writing up the instructions.
Things you' ll need:
1) deck of cards.
2) someone to do the trick to.
3) a pen / paper.
Now for the lingo -
Front of deck = you see the card images (ie.. king, 7..so on..)
Back of deck = the art from whatever company you got the cards from.
- - The set up.
Pick any card from the deck (make it something random.. not an Ace or such.. )
so for this example lets say you pick the 7 of hearts.
- Count down (from the back of the deck, ie the backs of the cards are showing.) 20 cards. Please the card you chose (7h) as the 21st card.
... now your resay to perform.
- - Tell someone you’re going to make a prediction..
- - Write "you will choose the 7 of hearts." on the paper.. Fold it and place it in front of them - don’t let them see what it says. Leave it in plain view the whole time – well get back to it in a min.
…. Now holding the deck face down (ie card back designs are facing up.) ask them to take a small packet of cards off the top – around 15 or less…
(This is purely a random amount of cards they pick up off the deck.. just make sure they know to pick less than 20 cards.. I normally just say 15 or less which makes life easy.)
Tell them to count the number of cards they picked of the deck – keep the number to themselves.. (You can turn around for this bit if you care to..)
Let’s say they picked up 13 cards.. Their number is 13 – as them to remember that number.
(don’t worry about the pile of 13 cards.. just leave them there on the table.. you don’t need them for the rest of the trick..)
Now – take the deck in your hand – and deal out from left to right 20 cards.
Touch the very most left card can say – this is card number 1, (next card from right to left is 2.. )
Say " I want you to say stop, when I get to the card corresponding to your secret number,.. so if you picked up 2 cards.. Your secret number would be 2, thus the second card from the right would be your card."
Now remember – at the beginning – you put the 7h 21 cards deep into the deck. …. When you count the 7h should be the 13th card from right to left. They will stop you on the 13th card – which again is the 7h…
You say .. hu.. that’s funny – this was all random – you could have picked up 8 cards,. Or 15 cards, but you picked up 13.. and you know .. I knew this would all happen the way it did.
Look at the bit of paper in front of you – the one I made my prediction on.. they read it and their jaw drops.
Next time you send an email, take a moment to ponder the simple beauty of the address field. No, not the name. Who cares who you're sending emails to. I certainly don't. No, the @ symbol. It's artwork now!
