    I was just thinking, my sister does A LOT of reading, and spends like $1000 a year on just books alone. most of them she reads once then never looks at again. is there any kind of like...video rental store but for books? would make things a lot cheaper, plus once one person has read one the next person can get enjoyment from it, etc.

    @Hilo: I can't remember what it's called, but there is a place near my house like this. You get a membership card and you just borrow the book for a few days and return it for the next user.


    Best of all it's free!


    And it's huuuuge, with giant lions out front and everything.

    @Lite: I've never had that happen, but I do remember one of them growling at me once.


    It was scary at first, but we ended up dancing to some disco-funk, fighting monkeys on motorcycles, and leading the charge against an evil sweatshop owner, so it was all cool in the end.

    The bookshelf is infinite, and an infinite number of books, but not every book is good, thus there is a finite number of books. The population of good books in the bookshelf, compared to infinity, would be near zero in comparison. Since infinity is close to nothing in an infinite bookshelf, the book you probably read (and liked) is probably the product of your deranged imagination?
