    In reply to Remain Calm: The Apple Store Is Down For Updates...On A Sunday
    I've always wondered why Apple has to shut down its entire store every time they do an update. I don't know of any other retailer that does this... can you imagine if Amazon had to shut down their store front every time they wanted to change pricing or add a new book?

    Can anybody enlighten me?

    @jepzilla: Perhaps it is there way of making sure nothing gets put up early, since everything from Apple has a strict release date. By only being able to update the store by taking the whole store down, maybe it prevents someone from screwing up a timestamp or letting people set there clocks forward on their computers to see what has been added early. Other than that, it could just be something as simple as every update must be checked, tested, and edited before going live to make sure there are no errors in information, price, or dead links, especially since a lot of products have the regular pages and then the school discount pages. Of course, these are just speculative reasons. It could very well just be that they are attention whores.

    Eek! It's awesome... but kinda freaky too... I mean... how is that safe!?!?!? Just one fault in the safety suit, and... yikes!

    I don't understand why everyone thinks this sort of thing is so dangerous. It's electricity, it's predictable, and when you know how to work with it (which this guy obviously does) you can do "crazy" things like this with relative safety.

    It's a carny trick, like walking on hot coals / broken glass or laying on a bed of nails. As long as you know what's going on, driving a car is more dangerous.

    Don't get me wrong, this is undeniably cool. But the guy doesn't have a death wish, he just knows his sh*t and figured it would be a neat thing to do.

    @DeadWriter: Hey, this guy is an agent of the aliens and abductors! Foil does not work. Especially a beanie! For proper thought control prevention and to also stop the abductions, aluminum foil doesn't work. That's why the aliens LET you construct a foil helmet. They really fear stuff that works. Like this:

    But be warned. According to the creator,on the directions page, you need to create these quickly, as when the aliens, or DeadWriter find out you are constructing one, they will try to stop you. You also need to add velcro or a string to your hat so that the aliens can not remove it. During the day, when you are safe, you need to keep this in a cabinet with a handle or latch, so the aliens can not steal it! Please people, DO NOT LISTEN TO THE OBVIOUS ALIEN DEAR WRITER!!! ;P

    Could we combine this tech with the gun from some month back that was firing Heiny bottles? THAT would make for an interesting time.

    38 paintballs per second is nothing, even for a low end paintball gun.

    @Nick Pfister:

    Despite what all of you non-paintballers say, he is actually right. Not so much low end guns, but just about every high end gun can.

    just to name a few

    Angels, Egos, DM9...lower end ones can, but not stock needs some mods.

    @mricyfire: They're flaming him because he said low end markers... The fastest anything under $500 will get you would be about 13-15 ball per second... double that and you might get 30 bps. 38? Bullshit. As far as I'm concerned, $500 isn't low end, either. Low end would consist of semi automatic markers like a stock Tippmann 98, or a really cheap Spyder--Not to mention Walmart paintball guns. Plus, to get a hopper to feed that fast, you need something better than a Viewloader, like a Halo or Empire.

    Anyways, there's some info for you. While some mid to high end markers could pull it off, lower end markers would just be chopping paint.

    @Ihaveanipod:

    this is the only time when I would accept "will it blend" as a justifiable comment. I have been out of the tournament scene for about a year (last played D2 on hogans alley factory), but know that 38 bps is absolutely BS. sure, some boards can claim 50+ bps under theoretical lab tests, but no hopper or HPA source can provide enough power to supply that

    @Nick Pfister: I may be way off, and should probably read the article, but wouldn't have two barrels mean that it is two separate guns firing simultaneously, thus making the firing rate of each gun 19 bps? From all the other posts, that would seem fairly easy to get from even a cheaper paintball gun.

    I am in no way involved with paintball, so I don't know anything about the products, but did anyone in fact check to see if the fire rate was in reference to both guns at the same time?

    The word "invented" and/or "invention" is thrown around a little to often these days.

    There's a point where putting things on top of other things and connecting them is inventive.

    There's a lot of room below that point, where this "automobile" nests. Nests in a furrow of crap under a crap-lit sky with a crap smell in the air and a dissatisfied "inventor" snoring lazily to sleep, dreams of crap-covered-crap playing before his lidded eyes...

    Ah the peace of it all...
